I am using Open Text’s Web Site Management - Management Server 11.1 Build 11.1.0.1063.

Recently, we had failure with WSM. We were unable to login. My IT group did some changes to the Directory Services. I am able to login with WSMUser system account but not with my personal (LDAP or local) accounts.

Login as WSMUser, I am able to access the Server Manager. But there are no Users (besides WSMUser) or Projects listed. It is like the WSM was wiped cleaned. All of the settings and plug-ins are gone. The only thing that seems to be connected is the db under Administer Database Servers > Server Connections. I have “Test Database Connection” and it is fine. I have even looked into the db itself and I see my projects.

How to do connect to projects within in db?

Thanks,

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Each project is saved individually as a database.

WSM 11.1 uses ioAdministration for application related information, such as users, project information, plugins configurations...everything you see in Server Manager.

I am not sure if

1.  ioAdministration was restored to a much earlier state.

or

2. In the mist of confusion, a reinstallation was made and the application was instructed to create a new database (ioAdminstration1).  Check your database to see how many ioAdministration.  In your WSM server file system, OpenText/WS/MS/ASP/RDServer.ini, it is configured to point to which database?

Hi Jian,

My ioAdministration was renamed WSM_Administration. I only have one. No copies.

Should the dbo.Project contain the list of the projects? If so, mine is empty.

My IT group did two back ups of WSM_Administration. Backed up on the day after I noticed all of the issues and December 11. Both when I requested. They don't do regular back ups.

I do see all the tables of all the projects. Is there a way to connect to them? I would hate to re-import the projects from dec 11.

Thanks
Jamie

Hi Jamie,
there 's the way to attach a project to an existend database:

A project database with the same name have to exist already on your database server, therefore please open the table "IO_SYS" of the project database, here you will find the data field "SYS1" with the entry "inuse" and the data field "SYS2" with the entry "1". Change the entry for the data field "SYS2" to "0".

In the Server Manager try to create a project with the same name of the project database and during the project creating you will get the messages "A database with this name already exists. Do you want to use this database?"

Choose "Yes" .

Hope this helps.
Sara.

Another way that I used to recommend but no anymore because it caused problem for a small percentage of the users.

Create a project, go into database, select the just created database, restore/replace it with the project database you have

You're getting the following error:
23/01/2015 6:30:34 PM Errors occured:-36 Project:  PrepareCreateDatabase:-1 : A database with this name already exists. It cannot be used with Management Server. Choose another name for the database.

because you did'nt set SYS2 field to 0.

As i said:
- open the table "IO_SYS" of the project database
- here you will find the data field "SYS1" with the entry "inuse" and the data field "SYS2" with the entry "1"
- change the entry for the data field "SYS2" to "0" (see attachment step1.png)

Create the project with the same database name, you'll get the warning in the attached image step2.png, click OK and it will work for sure.
