Hello,

For some reason all my editors are getting the following error when they try to get into Smart Edit.

"You are not authorized for this page"

This is only happening on one of the projects. I even tried making one of them project admin and he couldn't get to the Smart Edit either. The only account that I'm able to access Smart Edit is via System Admin account.

Any idea what might be causing this ?

Thanks,
Arsalan

Hi Arsalan,

Have the pages you are trying to access been submitted to workflow and
released?

Cheers,
Ardi

Have you exceeded your licenses for RD users?

Hi Arsalan,

is this problem new and did appear suddenly?
I would guess, that the project is a copy and has not been released to
other editors.

Greetings,

Hi,

Try clearing the page and navigation cache once.

It may sound silly but It helps solving issues like this some
times :) .

Thanks,
Chandrakanth

This is a new issue that I noticed just yesterday. This project hasn't gone live yet and I've just wanted an editor to go over the content before I publish the site but he could not get Smart Edit to work. I tried it with different users and it was the same issue.

No, I have not exceeded my Reddot licenses.

Whenever I get this problem, it's down to one thing: the page that the
user had assigned to them as their smart-edit start page has been
deleted. For example, imagine you assign page ID 100 to a user, and
then the next day page 100 gets deleted... When that user next goes
into SmartEdit, they will see 'You are not authorized for this page'.

Hopefully that's what your problem is. I say 'hopefully' cos it's a
nice easy one to fix :o)

Well, I don't think that's the issue because if I login with admin account, I can see everything fine. The whole project structure is there but as I user, I cannot even access SmartEdit, I keep getting the same message.

Came across a similar issue long ago, I'm not sure if this might work.
You can give it a try though.

Administer Project Settings -> Project Variants-> HTML (Action Menu:
Set as Default Display Format)

When the default display format is set to any other project variant,
it does not display in Smart Edit and displays "You are not
authourized for this page".

I hope it works!

Cheers
