This afternoon (5/18), Lytle Ranch, Washington Co.,UT, hosted a good variety of resident and migrant species as well as a few notable birds, including a Zone-tailed Hawk, Swainson's Thrush, Indigo Bunting, and a Bobolink.
The Zone-tailed Hawk was observed flying high over the alfalfa fields & Beaver Dam Wash with a Red-tailed Hawk. The Swainson's Thrush was skulking in the undergrowth near the pond. The continuing male Indigo Bunting was incessantly singing between the orchard and pond (mostly from the extra large cottonwood about 100 m downwash from the pond). And the male Bobolink was either feeding on the grasses in the planted field closest to the pond or singing from the cottonwoods lining the field. The Sommerfelds and Carol Jean Nelson also enjoyed some of these birds.
