Hi,
I plan to make significant changes to a large multi-center project in Production.
The changes to the Data Dictionary are many, but they are all additions, and should be approved automatically after the new Dictionary is uploaded.
There will also be several manual "settings" changes: adding new Longitudinal events, instrument-event mappings, repeating forms/events configuration, new custom record dashboards.

In terms of data integrity (for lack of a better term), should I be worried about users entering/editing data while these changes are being made? This seems like a time that the data entry system should ideally be taken "offline", until all changes are made. I guess that can sort of be done by temporarily adjusting the User Roles to have "no access" for all forms.

Just wondering if anyone had thoughts about this - if it's not really necessary, then I might skip it.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff

Did you attempt these changes? What was the impact?

Hi,
Early in the day, I sent a "warning" email to all of the project's users, alerting them they should not enter data during XYZ time;
then at XYZ time, I sent another email saying "please don't enter data until you receive another message";
then, I made the changes, and sent an email saying "ok - changes made, you can enter data now".

It was a low tech solution, but it worked for this case, where we have 50+ users across the US.
