Hello all,

I'm interested in developing a computerized adaptive test (CAT) for REDCap. A CAT tailors which items to present to a respondent based on their responses to previous items, thus increasing the efficiency of the assessment. REDCap supports CATs (e.g., see here: https://utahctsi.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/3/topic/9f47c5a9-035b-4583-8ebd-8ebc59608970/article/2129985544) insofar as they have several CATs available in the REDCap shared library of assessments (including adaptive versions of the PROMIS scales). Is it possible for users to develop a CAT for REDCap? If so, how? I'm not asking about how (in general) to develop a CAT. I'm already familiar with developing CATs. I'm referring specifically to how to implement a CAT (developed by me) in REDCap.
Thanks!
-Isaac

So the PROMIS anxiety CAT is developed outside of redcap and then was added, I'm not sure about that process. You can use branching logic to to mimic, so if they pick answer a - item 1, answer b - item 2, etc. It would be labor intensive to setup but would be a good option with the least amount of effort.

This is the PROMIS that we have in our REDCap, PROMIS EC Parent-Report Bank v1.0 - Anxiety(Adaptive), and this is the message I get if I try to click on it in the designer, just for your information.
This instrument cannot be modified in any way because it is an computer adaptive test (CAT), which means that its questions are dynamically generated using a service outside of REDCap. You may, however, rename or delete the instrument.
