SQLSTATE[22007]: Invalid datetime format: 1366 Incorrect string value: '\xE2\x98\xBA\xEF\xB8\x8E...'

I have posted the problem here but not much activity on there so posting here:

No matter what I try to save to longtext column, if it contains any UTF8 chars, redbean complains about dateime? What does that mean? Why datetime? What does datetime have anything to do with saving text in a longtext column?
