I just wanted to send a quick reminder that I will be in Red Bank for
the usual morning and afternoon workshops with you all. I've got a
bunch of fun activities that I want to share and some planning for the
spring.
If you want to see what I was busy with this past fall, see the
workshop here (http://sites.google.com/site/ciese07030/Home/tres-
boques-un-mundo-).
Enjoy your evening and I look forward to seeing you all again!
Greg
It was great to see everyone again and I look forward to seeing you
all again Feb 2.
First, I updated the agenda page: http://www.ciese.org/training/RedBank/1.20.10.htm
I added some useful resources from the summer workshop regarding the
backback project. I also added 2 world maps with accurate time zones;
I tried to select ones that were easy to read... or as easy as it
gets.
Keep in mind two things:
1. There are some small times zones out there and some with awkward
shapes as well as 1/2 hour time zones. It gets tricky!
2. Once you add daylight savings time into the mix I'm not certain
there are going to be any accurate maps. Many places around the world
do not adhere to daylight savings time.
I would love to hear back from you guys on how this works out and
which map(s) you tried and how well they work!
Also, i updated the Math @ Red Bank website: http://sites.google.com/site/redbankafterschool/
I do not have links to some of your websites; please let me know what
the web address is for your Google Site and I can add you to the Meet
Your Teachers section. Next time we meet I will add you all as owners
so that you may edit the website and post information there.
I am working on the rules for the Math Days coming at the end of April
and in early May. I'll share with you what I have perhaps tomorrow.
Thanks to Denise for jotting down notes for the workshop; they are
post in Files in the Google Group under the name Stevens institute
training Jan 20.
Thanks for all the great feedback!
Cheers!
Greg
