Lauren, All,
Here is what I have found regarding the embedded Forms in our Google
Sites.
First, I reported the bug to Google. I was told that the bug has been
filed and should be fixed by 8/11.
In the meantime, here is what I have discovered.
If you go to 'Edit Page' and 'Insert' and
'Spreadsheet form' you can successfully embed any Form that comes up.
If you use the search dialog box and type in the name of your Form
file and find the Form that way you can embed it successfully. If you
paste the URL in the dialog box at the bottom your Form will come up
with the 404 Error. That is what I have been doing successfully but
it has failed us.
You can add any 'problem Form' this way:
1. Click 'Edit Page' followed by the 'html' icon in the tool bar at
the far right.
2. go to the bottom of the page and enter this code <iframe src=" ">
3. In between the " "'s add the URL of the live form.
4. Click 'Update' to close the dialog box.
5. Drag the Form wherever you want it.
6. Click on the Form and click on 'Properties' to change the size of
the form.
7. Click 'Save'. Your done.
It may sound like a lot but it is relatively painless. If you want to
attempt it, by all means, give it a shot. If not, don't worry; the
next time I come by Red Bank I will help everyone either individually
or as a group to fix all our Forms. Perhaps by then the bug will be
fixed, but whether it is or not we will get you pages up and
running.
In Google's defense, Google Forms were just added earlier this year.
Embedding gadgets is newer still. So there may be some kinks to work
out. BUT these tools give teachers endless possibilities to
collaborate and collect data so I am going to keep on them so we can
have them working as smoothly as possible.
I hope this helps!
