Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone's had any luck connecting their re:dash instance to their Elasticsearch cluster?

Currently getting "Error running query: 'dict' object has no attribute 'rstrip'" error when trying to query Elasticsearch from re:dash.

This is making me think that re:dash is not connecting to Elasticsearch properly.

The setup:

  • re:dash instance set up in AWS following documentation
  • Elasticsearch endpoint used as base-URL in re:dash data_source setup

can someone confirm how the connection between re:dash and Elasticsearch is made? As in:

  • what security groups are required
  • what should be used as the base-URL when setting up the data source in re:dash
Thanks in advance for your time,

Mike

Hi,

I went through the code of the ElasticSearch query runner and I don't see the use of rstrip method there, so hard to pin-point where the error comes from.
Can you please check if you see full stacktrace in the logs (/opt/redash/logs/celery_error.log)?

As for your questions:
* You need to allow access to the port ES is using from the re:dash instance.
* The base URL is only the host & port of your ES instance.

Hi Arik,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

we're all connected here now. It appeared to be a syntactical issue with the query.

Thanks,

Mike
