Maharana Pratap: The First Freedom Fighter is a movie that will inspire you to learn more about the history and culture of India, and to appreciate the heroes who fought for their land and dignity. Watch it today and witness the epic saga of Maharana Pratap, the first freedom fighter of India.
Maharana Pratap is widely regarded as one of the greatest Rajput warriors who ever lived. He was born on May 9, 1540, in Kumbhalgarh Fort, Rajasthan, as the eldest son of Udai Singh II and Jaiwanta Bai. He was given the title of Crown Prince and was trained in martial arts, archery, horse riding, and statecraft from a young age. He also learned about the history and culture of Mewar and developed a deep sense of pride and loyalty towards his land and people.
When his father died in 1572, Maharana Pratap ascended the throne as the 54th ruler of Mewar in the line of the Sisodiya Rajputs. He inherited a kingdom that was under constant threat from the Mughal empire under Akbar, who wanted to annex Mewar into his dominion. Akbar sent several diplomatic missions to Maharana Pratap to persuade him to accept his suzerainty and join the other Rajput rulers who had submitted to him. However, Maharana Pratap refused to compromise his independence and dignity and rejected Akbar's overtures.
This led to a series of conflicts between Mewar and the Mughals, the most famous of which was the Battle of Haldighati in 1576. In this battle, Maharana Pratap faced a much larger and better-equipped Mughal army led by Raja Man Singh I and Asaf Khan I. Despite being outnumbered and outmatched, Maharana Pratap fought valiantly with his loyal soldiers and his faithful horse Chetak. He inflicted heavy casualties on the Mughal forces but was eventually forced to retreat due to lack of resources and reinforcements. He escaped from the battlefield with the help of his brother Shakti Singh, who had defected from the Mughals.
