Hey everyone,

Below are the updates on the new projects of RED this semester.

Moongori Project

The Halwai is busy now as was discussed in the last meet but He is now ready to teach villagers/group of people on How to make the stuff. Did not indicate about any fee/payment for the same yet.

The Handicapped guy's contact details are not available with us as of now in the feedback forms. One of us will probably have to visit Raila soon to figure out some things and push the project to the next stage.

Agenda's for the next Raila visits:

  • Talk to Halwai regarding the teaching thing and convince him for prepping the "Test-Batch" while teaching the same.
  • Find the Handicapped guy and ask him to convince a decent number of villagers who are willing to work for the project.
  • Address the people who are willing to work and explain them about our project.
  • Introduce them to the Halwai and fix a deadline for the Test-Batch .
Please add more tasks to be done.

Sweet-Box Project

Market Survey was completed on 7th November and following are the collected details.

  • Comes in different varieties. One shop had a sweet box costing the shopkeeper 6 bucks which he used for 1Kg of sweets. He bought them from a dealer in Chirawa and the Box also had a printed stamp stating the name of the shop. The shopkeeper had no idea about the making cost of a box and told that the Dealer supplied the Boxes to the shop itself so the price includes Transportation costs too.
  • Made of very light fold-able cardboard with a pattern on top and space for the name of the store. Other shops had Boxes worth Rs.4 and Rs.10 too from the same dealer.

Fryums/ Frying Chips/Colored Snacks Project

  • Sales are very low in Pilani market. Hardly 5-6 Kg in a month.
  • Cost Price= Rs.45-50 Selling Price=Rs.60.
  • Made using Maida as the main product and Turmeric,Baking Soda,Food Color as per the requirements. The shopkeeper does not know about actual production procedure but a quick google search revealed that It requires machines to give them the shape and can't be done using simple molds.
  • Are supplied from Jaipur.

Regards,

Divyansh Saini.

See first two and last two will have to be done separately. Whoever knew the handicapped guy should go now and then a larger group will go later to talk to the ppl that he has gathered (after the test batch is approved).
So Dhairik take a few others with u this Saturday (or whatever works with u) and talk to him and see what happens.

Too long. Too detailed.
1. Dont mention CEL. Too many names.
2. Give succeess stats of saksham, not stories
3. Talk abt work done in raila, why its promising
4. U haven't pitched csr. They might get confused why they got this mail
5. Shorten the whole thing
6. Make it a little interactive.

P.S. update the site content and insert link

Did you guys go to Raila today?

Whoever is the admin of this group, please change the settings of the group so that the reply goes to the entire group by just pressing "Reply" instead of "Reply to all"

As we had decided, Manaswi, Divyansh and I will be going to the village on Saturday. The chief purpose will be to find the handicapped guy and discuss the whole idea with him. Hopefully, if he is interested, we’ll be assigning him the task to find similar-minded hardworking villagers for the execution of the idea.

Cheers,

We had gone to the village today. The Halwai was outside, so couldn’t meet him this time but we met Hawa Singh (the handicapped guy). He said he will be totally free after Monday and is ready to dedicate his full time to the project provided it yields money for him. He said that arranging workforce will not be a difficult task for him and he will gather as many people as we want. He was reluctant on investing a single rupee on the project (we anyway don’t expect him to do so!) and expected instant gains (as expected!). Further, he agreed to learn from the Halwai and is ready to teach others once he learns.

Everything seems to be in the right place. Hawa Singh said he knew Halwai and they seemed to be in talking terms, so I believe making them work together won’t be an issue as such. The things that we have to look into now are the production equipments, packing and transportation.

For transportation, we could possibly contact the BITS Guard (who lives in Rayla), Rayla Electrician (who works in Pilani) or the Rayla Auto-wala. Anyway thats a secondary issue. Now lets start working on production equipments and start looking for sponsorship for the project.

Contact Details of Hawa Singh: +91-8094597115
