Welcome to the first (and long overdue) edition of "Red 5 Standing By", the Red 5 Comics newsletter.   Rest assured that the lack of newsletter has been due to the team concentrating all our efforts on launching with great comics.

If you haven't heard, Red 5 made its Diamond Previews debut in the August issue, meaning our first titles will ship in October 2007.  We were particularly honored to have all three of our debut titles receiving "spotlight" or "feature" placement, a rarity for first-time publishers.

Since Red 5 Comics is a brand new publisher, stores will likely carry our titles only if customers specifically ask for them.  If you would like to support Red 5 Comics, please visit your local comic shop this week and ask for one or more of our titles below.  They'll want the Diamond order number, which you can find below in red.  Alternately, we've actually created a handy print-ready form you can take with you...

For a limited time, you can also order Red 5 Comics online (and at a discount) through a number of online shops including "Things from Another World" at http://www.tfaw.com/Companies/red+5+comics

So, to kick things off, let me introduce Red 5 Comics opening line-up for you.  Please follow the links for some amazing artwork and more details.

EARLY REVIEWS: http://www.red5comics.com/?p=98
  • "Wow… I really liked this book. It was pure fun, something often lacking in comics today. It's filled with action, adventure, and snappy dialog. Who doesn't love a smart-ass robot! Stan Lee would love this book!" ( Newsarama Best Shots)
  • "Beautiful retro design that recalls the Art Deco era, characters that make you laugh, and story from page one. This is slam-bam jet fueled afterburner fun from the get-go." ( Silver Bullet Comics)

EARLY REVIEWS: http://www.red5comics.com/?p=98
  • "I'll just come right out and say it; this book was a really good read. The artwork by Marangon is top notch. Many upstart publishers are shying away from the capes stuff nowadays, and I like the stones it took for Red 5 to put this book out. With a couple more titles like this under its belt, this publisher just might be going places." ( Silver Bullet Comicbooks)

NEOZOIC #1 (AUG073944)
Written by Paul Ens (Star Wars: Evasive Action )
Art by J. Korm and Jessie Lam (Rotogin: Junkbotz)

In a gritty sci-fi fantasy world where dinosaurs did not become extinct, humanity lives under the constant threat of giant predators. Protege hunter Lilli Murko faces off against a deadly carnivore while her Donti Squad discovers a strange new reptilian threat to their city.

EARLY REVIEWS: http://www.red5comics.com/?p=98
  • "This book hits the mark; it does what comics do better then anyone else. It tells a fantastic adventure in a fantastic setting and tells it well. Of course I was sold with just the cover, a dinosaur, a beautiful woman and a big sword; this replaces whiskers on kittens and raindrops on roses as some of my favorite things." (Comics and…)
