If you were CM, who would you cast in the (future) movie-musical of
Les Mis, OLC, OBC, Revival Cast, etc.

For the movie-musical I would have:
Valjean- John Owen Jones
Javert- Philip Quast (he looks like the picture in the book! and he's
awesome!)
Fantine- toughe toughie I have to go with Ruthie Henshall, Julie
Lambert or Alice Ripley
Thenardiers- Jenny Galloway and Alun Armstrong
Cosette- Young: Tess Adams Older: Tracey Shayne or Annalene Beechley
(i don't think i spelled that correctly but I don't care)
Eponine- Young: Carly Rose Soneclair Older: Frances Ruffelle or
Natalie Toro
Marius: Tom Lucas!!!!!
Enjolras: Gary Maur, David Malek or Anthony Warlow
Gavroche: Zach Rand

ooo I love topics like this :D

Valjean: Colm Wilkinson
Javert: PQ (I think he is the most perfect Javert EVER and even if
he's 80 by the time the movie's made, he is GOING to be in it .lol)
Fantine: Ruthie Henshall, or Patti LuPone
Eponine: Frances Ruffelle, Jacinta Whyte, Linzi Hateley
Marius: Adam Jacobs, Michael Ball, Jerome Pradon? (I haven't heard
many Mariuses - I'm the walking Eponine directory XD)
Enjolras: Michael Maguire or Aaron Lazar (although Aaron Lazar matches
the Marius description from the book almost perfectly...in my opinion)
Cosette: Judy Kuhn, whoever is the Cosette on the Vienna recordig
Thenardier: Alun Armstrong or Barry James
Thenardiess: Jenny Galloway

Actually as Thenardriess I prefer Jennifer Butt (OBC--seriously).
She sounds great with the crocdile tears!
About everyone else from the concert version is fine also (though I am
a Frances Rufelle fan...).

I root for Chip cuz he was awesome in Into the Woods but Alun would be
my first choice.

Someone wants Zac Efron to be Enjolras or Marius. *shakes head in
disgust*

I'm sorry--I really don't like Celia Keenan-Bolger. I dunno--her
diction is awkward in the wrong ways and she just doesn't cry
"EPONINE!!!" to me...
Enjy, man, I wouldn't want anyone famous (let alone apart of HSM) to
even step in the direction of Les Miz without Boublil and Shonberg's
consent--which they won't do because they're french/awesome.

French people are awesome!
Also someone stated that Michael Crawford was the original Jean
Valjean.

(extremely late reply)
ew. They have it backwards:
Colm originated Michael's big role--the Phantom
(though Michael Crawford is still excellent at the part)
...
I'm trying to read the book!

My cast of Miz:
I'd love to say everyone in the original broadway cast (except David
Bryant--replace with Michael Ball!)
but that was the Eighties
so, I'd love to say:
cast a whole lotta talented unknowns who have never even seen or heard
a cast
it seems all casts sound the same (emotion wise)
and I want some new interpretations for the movie
to make it interesting
or it'll screw it up completely--
*stops and thinks*
cross-out what I said
Get some Experienced people in there!
Send in JOJ (colm is too old...maybe they could have him cameo as the
Bishop of Digne)
if they even let Rosie O'Donnel get near the set
I will go Sweeney on the producers
*laughs evilly*
Oh gosh--I have to lay off the Sweeney...

you dragged me into Sweeney.

well more of my mom's fault, she's a huge Sweeney fan and she says I
can go see the movie with her.

Do you wanna see Sweeney?

And why does everyone hate David Bryant so much?

Yes. But I didn't Johnny Depp could sing! (oh man I feel like amy fron
Intervention)

I hear Micahel first. So David sounds a bit dull next to him.

I'm sort of curious to see how they made it (just to make sure they
didn't screw it up :P) but the content deturrs (sp) me - and no
offense to Johnny, Helena and everybody, but if I was to see it, I'd
probably get the recording with Patti LuPone or Angela Lansbury doing
it.

And I don't hate David :D I can't hate anyone who has been in Les
Mis :P (heck, if they like Les Mis I probably can't hate them )

eh.
don't worry--Sondheim approved of Burton and the rest (Depp and Carter
had to audition in person and Sondheim gave his approval)--read this
off of imdb.
I was skeptical of the Depp too...but he is a good actor, so I have
confidence enough in him
yay! I partially dragged someone into Sweeney!
this is one of the most awesome showtune-related moments since when I
converted a friend to Miz!
(not as awesome, but still wicked, bloody great!)
but...how'd this get into the casting thread?
(note: David Bryant sounds decent in the recording but was terrible
live--see tony telecast on yotube--and, i'm sorry, he is terrible at
falsetto that I still crack up when I hear him at the end of 'A Heart
Full of Love')
