We are still going, just a little slowly at the moment.  We have a Facebook group in addition if you like (Central Alberta Maker Space https://www.facebook.com/groups/803520053026794/

Our founding principal is:  Learn - Teach - Make, so I think a home schooling group might be a great addition.

We are in the process of getting everything together for an actual space, in addition to coordination with a Calgary and Edmonton space.  But that being said, I know a few of us have been doing our making on the side, and we have quite a variety of interests, from cars, to art, to electronics, to wood working.

What area of making are you and your group particularly interested in?

Would you be interested in a trip to Edmonton and/or Calgary to visit their spaces?

Let me know what you think, and if you would be interested in joining us.

-Vince

Lori,
That's really exciting that some homeschoolers are wanting to get involved in a maker space! I'm a homeschool grad myself, so it's great to hear from you! Has your group been formulating any kind of a plan yet, to get a space set up?

I'm not an admin, I didn't start the group.  I'm not sure if he even checks his email any more, but I deleted my reply to help your privacy.  I will give you a shout around 6 pm.  Have a great night.

Archie, I highly recommend joining Wisdom (http://wisdomhomeschooling.com/aboutus/hswithwisdom). They are a great homeschooling board and they will help answer questions and offer resources for new homeschoolers! My family used Wisdom and we were very happy with our experience with them! There is also the Alberta Home Education Association (http://www.aheaonline.com/index.php/new-to-home-schooling/starting-out) which is a wonderful resource as well!
