Zuccotti Park Occupation: Join Us
Wednesday September 21st - 7PM
Zuccotti Park
Broadway between Liberty and Cedar, New York, NY 10038
1.
There are daily snake marches proceeding from the park at 9AM and
3:30PM, attempts to disrupt the opening and closing bells of the New
York Stock Exchange, located nearby at 11 Wall Street between Broadway
and Nassau.
Members of Red Channels are also working to develop an onsite lending
library for the park. If you’re interested in getting involved, please
write to library[at]
redchannels.org
If technically possible, and the lawyers figure out the loopholes,
members are also working to develop nightly screenings of silent film
and video. If interested in helping to curate and facilitate these
projections, write to screenings[at]
redchannels.org Last night a
screen was taken down by the police for some bogus reason, but folks
are figuring out how to make it work.

On September 17th, a large number of people gathered in lower
Manhattan with the intention of occupying Wall Street. As of now,
Wednesday September 21st, the occupation continues, located in
Zuccotti Park, Broadway between Liberty and Cedar Streets. Please join
us in solidarity with this action.
Each body, each conversation, builds excitement, builds momentum for a
larger and lasting movement. People are coming together to learn from
each other, hash out our thoughts, and link ideas and action in the
creation of something else.
Come and see what’s happening, and participate in whatever you wish.
Everything is still taking shape in real time. Perhaps bring a
sandwich to share, a blanket, whatever.

We understand a LOT of people involved in more radical politics are
skeptical to get involved for a number of reasons, none good in our
view:
1 – while the general things being said there fall quite short of
being radical, using a terminology that’s quite tired and empty, the
thing in itself is pretty radical – if “we” don’t show up, then what
we have to say will just stay outside of a really interesting debate
2 – a lot of different political groups will try to gain control of
the meetings: ecologists versus trotskyists versus other trotskyists
versus whatever. It will quickly turn ugly, and “we” don’t want to
become another group fighting for control. Rather than participate in
this eternal sectarianism of the left, we think what we should do is
to multiply the things happening in the occupation. The discussions
happening are more between people and less between groups and
ideologies, which makes it much more interesting. The more diverse the
camp is, the more people it will bring, and the more it will escape
dying off slowly.
3 – if it is remotely like what happened in Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona,
Athens, a LOT of people who never been involved in politics will show
up, a LOT of people will get to know each other really fast, and with
a sense of having shared something important. We think it is really
important that our particular and heretical take on politics is
present, to try and make it move beyond reformism and “activism”.
We understand there is every reason to reject the call, reject the
occupation, reject the moment. Why not come and talk about it
together.
