Red Channels exhibits a newly made video of our recent research into
crowds, affect, and cinema as part of the Whitney Independent Study
Program Studio Exhibition, where one of our members has been in
residence since September. This video documents presentations Red
Channels gave at the Cultural Studies Association's "New Directions in
Cultural Studies" conference held last March in Chicago.

"As a Crowd Gathers is a selection of video essays constructed through
an autonomous collective approach to research. It is one potential
manifestation of a co-studied genealogy of crowds, affect, and cinema;
historical and represented. Of interest are the ways artists and
social theorists, as well as evolving media and technology, have
attempted to understand, represent, and control the potential of
crowds. The crowd is a social relation that is never separate from
artist/researcher/theorist. Toward new understandings, crowds,
collectivity, and its affective political potential, we think of our
work together as studied experiences and repetition of new social
forms we want to express in the world." (Whitney ISP program)

Aspirations of the Blast: An Explosive Walking Tour

Saturday 28 May 2011 - 1PM

Join Red Channels on a walking tour of leftist bombing sites on the
island of Manhattan. We’ll meet on Saturday May 28th at 1:00 at a
place to be announced, and proceed to visit different locations
throughout the city that have been bombed by anarchists, communists,
liberation struggles, et al, from roughly 1914-1982, all with this or
that radical political agenda. We will each be researching two sites
in advance of the tour to present, including the location, date,
target, group responsible, and professed reason for the attack. We
encourage any and all who come to participate.
