We begin from the proposition that the class struggle is never reducible to unionism. This walking tour will uncover New York City's hidden history of wildcats and other illegal strikes that trade union bureaucrats would prefer to forget. If traditional strikes have become routinized and familiar, the spectre of the wildcat movement constantly threatens to explode the limits of the collective bargaining regime. By striking without permission, rank-and-file workers challenge the law, the state, the police, and the trade union officialdom itself, while breathing life into emergent formations that prove impossible to contain.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes, and bringing drinks and snacks.
Unplanned stops along the way often result in people getting separated from the group, and/or extending the duration of the tour.

Looking forward to walking with you!

Please forward to people who might be interested.
