April 4 Meeting RECAP

Rawr this thing deleted my whole post again time to retype it yay so sorry if it isn't very thorough cuz i just kinda killed 30 mins work XP

COIN DRIVE:

Promoting:

Anyone wanna volunteer to do morning announcements?

We also need to write a morning announcement

Next meeting session: Poster making? 

Anyone wanna hold up signs before and after school to let the parents know so they may force their children to donate money? :D

Money:

Anyone wanna count the money regularly? (still need to find out if its daily or weekly..)

Teachers can voluntarily agree to do something if a certain grade donates the most money-->Potential grade competition, but mainly we need to focus on promoting our cause: Chinese orphans!

FIELD DAY

Dates: 

Considering the dates for Relay for Life (June 9-10) and Orch field trip (June 2?) We thought that a Friday night field day would be nice... :) hopefully weather permits on either June 1st of 8th from 5:00-10:00 (After school, go and set up from 2:30-5ish)

Location:

We were hoping to hold the event at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse but "Miscellaneous Use" would require $35 per hour payment...so we thought maybe we could use the field at Redmond Elementary? So we called the Old Redmond Schoolhouse to get more info on whose property that field is, and since we're LWSD people we're supposed to talk to John Bailie for more info..so location:still TBA 

Promoting:

We can promote with the kids at Redmond Elementary and RJH people. We were thinking about talking to Redmond newspaper peoples...but talking with friends and family works well too!

Money:

Money can be raised through admission, but we were thinking that booths with prizes or craft sales can help raise money too!

Ideas for booths:

Face painting: Kanaad

Dunk tank: teachers?

Cake walk

Craft booths

3-legged race

Bouncy house?

Ice block slip ‘n’ slide

Water balloon fight

Scavenger hunt

Sno-cones

Photo booth

Talent show at the end?

Mr. Aguilar juggling?

Pony Rides

These are really random ideas...XD any other ideas for booths? Also with the talent show--it'd be really cool to have it late at night with a ton of lights OUTSIDEEEE :D but we'd need to get a stage and such. Also, to get people to perform at it, we COULD have like preliminary auditions like 1 hr before, or we can simply ask people we know beforehand...but ya know that'll take some work  ;P

We still need to figure out what cause we're promoting through the field day it'd be nice to focus on ONE cause but it's difficult to figure out still :P

LOCAL PROJECTS:

We were thinking that helping locally could be quick 1-day projects

Visiting Senior Centers--performing? talking, eating, idk etc. :P

Some time, maybe we could all get together and make food which we could donate to local food banks? We'd still have to find a location(s) to make food and such..we could split into groups and go to diff ppls houses and later get back together to transport the food, but still more planning :D

hmm am i missing anything...i feel like i am :P anyways, fun meeting guys!

hey guys, so for visiting senior centers, I was talking with the people at Fairwinds (the one at the bottom of the hill on Avondale)

They said they dont want people preforming/working there... so we should maybe check some others if we want to do that.

My brother has a band and they might be able to play for really cheap
or even for free for us. Maybe at the field day?They do all kinds of
music so that would be fun.
