After the coin drive is over, we really need to get working on the field day--

thanks to those of you who have been reading/replying and giving feedback--its really helpful :) But it's important that everyone starts getting involved because we have ONE MONTH

So far what we have planned for the field day
-June 1 or June 8: The guy still hasn't replied x.x I'm gonna try contacting him again tomorrow...but im gonna go for June 8th, because it's later and we'll have more time to plan :P
-NO admission fee--Info posters around  and donations jar @ booths
-Booths: 
  • Games
  • Sponsers
  • Food
-Talent show @ night
-DCRF Disabled Children's Relief Fund :)

What we need to work on
PRIORITIES:
  • Advertising/Promoting: we need to create a specific handout/flyer we can post in places, ie. starbucks, etc [oh btw, my brother's therapy places have places where we can promote it]
  • ^We need to be able to know WHAT exactly we're advertising...

IDEAS:
  • Games? Ideas for booths?--what appeals to children, teens
  • Sponsors? Anyone have any ideas of WHO can sponsor us? 
  • Allisons in charge of food. XD

THE EVENT: 
  • Where are we gonna get all the stuff--tables, equipment, etc.<---keep that in mind when planning :)
  • WHO is gonna perform @ the talent show? 

If we're gonna get this done, we need you to REPLY ALL to what you want to be involved in (a booth, getting sponsors, helping advertise, talent show). Otherwise, we might not be able to get this done. D: Thanks guys :)

Wait...why is there no admission cost or cost for anything? People will donate, but we'll probably get mroe money from charging at least something...like $2-5 for admission or something?

free=better because more people will come; however I think  it should be clear that donations are suggested and highly recommended to everyone who comes.

Where does equipment for the games come from? the local elementary school..?

So, maybe we should get everything completely organized.. Not like today where we were asking for donations and had to get stopped cus of some unfinished business... -.-o 
We can have some game booths, and some where you can do physical activities like run or play with a ball... For sponsors we can find organizations made for disabled children too. 
Now, while planning, we can't just be like "oh well we can do this if someone wants to blah blah blah" we need to be like OKAY THIS IS FOR SURE AND THAT IS THAT AND THEN BLAH AND YEAH.

ahhh sorry about that :( i don't really know what happened cuz christina and i got an ok from everyone...Coleman told me that broderick needed to get more signatures of something, but broderick went home sick today... but he said that the coin drive would continue this week...Mr. Coleman said most likely WED.. 

Christina and I were talking and we decided that most likely we cannot do this field day...it's gonna take a lot of people to help and at the rate we're going it's most likely not going to happen D: sorry guys...

what we probably can do, is take a small aspect of this field day and focus on it, instead of doing all of it--we could do just a talent show?

Yeah, sorry about that guys! :/ We'll definitely to try to make sure in the future that we have a definite okay next time--it just was the product of a confusion and just an overall misunderstanding (everyone forgot that we needed to get one more important step done in order to finalize the coin drive)-- not really anyone's fault, but we'll try to be be better about that (:

On a different note, adding to what Jennifer was saying about the field day/talent show sort of time; if we realistically look at how much time we have left until June, it's probably not going to be possible to pull an event like that off. We're not trying to be pessimistic, but we were thinking that if we tried setting up a smaller event which is more manageable (for example, as Jennifer said, only the talent show portion of that), it would be easier.

Ideas and thoughts?

so talking to some of you guys i guess we have to confirm that we are NOT doing the field day OR talent show. Instead, we should probably take things slower.

So remember back to a couple meetings ago, Sydney had this really cool idea:

"Anyways, Sydney had an awesome idea that was nice and simple but really cool :P We can prepare little gift things attached to a note which can raise happiness and moral everywhere if we send them to our families and friends, etc. It basically lets them know that we’re the Red Balloon Project and we want help people and if they want to donate, they can. I THINK—Is this the right idea, Sydney? Anything else you want to add?"


There was also the possiblity of a food drive where we can stand outside QFC in redmond and the safeway in Sammamish and hand out flyers asking for stuff on the list of donations (so basically like the QFC thing RJH did back in dec :P). With that, maybe we could have a table full of the gift things with a note attach that basically tells who the Red Balloon Project is, what we do, how they can help, and a link to a website that naveen is going to set up. There can be a jar of donations (that would go to hopelink) but donations isn't necessary, people would feel obliged too. Allison brought up that we need to talk to these people instead of just getting donations and it makes RBP more welcome in the community..cuz we're just a group of students :P

Yeah that pretty much it. We would send a hot chocolate packet in and envelope with a note attached saying something like:
 "on behalf of the Red Balloon Project, we hope you enjoy this hot cocoa on the date of ______ for the cause of _______. We hope this inspires you to send a small donation. Sincerely _______"

So by Friday everyone should figure out how many they want to send out individually. :)

haha yup :) we can decide specifically what we want to write on the note sometime and what the donation would go towards :P

Allison pointed out that lots of people have relatives not in this country, so we can just make like a ton...? XD or like a considerable amount :P

Ah no sorry, I didn't talk to him about it today--I'll definitely make sure to check with him tomorrow. What exactly do we need from him? (like the official fundraising form filled..?)
