Well, evidently we _can't_ do the teacher talent thing, so after more internet searching (while watching Big Bang Theory...don't judge, it's HIRARIOUS) I found a new/easier idea!

Essentially this--each grade has a separate color (e.g. sevvies red; 8th graders white; freshmen black) and for 25 cents or 50 cents or a dollar (or something along those lines) they can buy a "link" for the chain. I'm guesing that the chain would basically be made out of strips of paper stapled together (so it's really, really, really easy to make). I think the chains should be hidden, but on the morning announcements we could say something like "The #th graders are winning the spirit chain contest so far...加油 ALL OTHER GRADES!!" (Okay, I honestly could not think of how to say that in English, and the direct translation is "add oil"...)

Anyway, we could present this at the ASB election assembly (so school spirit/pride/whatever is running high), and maybe everyone in the winning grade can get a free ice cream sandwich? Just a thought :)

I'm not really sure if this is 100% accurate or not, but I think if we talked to Colman rather then Broderick the Teacher Talent thing would be in progress, not to say that it is anyone's fault. However, from my experience its Broderick's way or the highway, if it's not his idea he won't take the chance. I think we should talk to Colman about the idea before we cut it out completely. But like I said, I could be wrong.

P.S. I <3 big bang!!!!

haha i talked to Mr. Coleman about the idea and he was completely supportive :D but he told me, that he's not really in charge of all the assemblies and such....so he said we would have to work with Broderick on that :P we COULD go to Mrs. Clapp and ask... but Broderick prob has the greatest say if it involves assemblies and such :P but I agree with sydney cuz it'd be sad to kinda cut out the idea completely... it'd be really nice if we could continue with the teacher talent thing....:P

@ kelly i like the idea too! We could discuss different ways to make it interesting, organized, etc., and stuffs but it's an overall really good alternative :)

I actually like this idea better.

It's school spirit, and teachers don't have any cost. It's basically another magazine drive but with papers......

The only problem with it is that it needs more motive. Slips of paper representing school spirit is simply not enough....

Joseph has a good point... But that idea's pretty cool, Kelly. :)
Also, I think I was talking to Kelly or someone earlier, and they said that the teachers could just have one BIG performance with a group of teachers [like one act] in the talent show assembly. That might work?

just lest corny and more targeted towards the majority of the school rather than just people who have watched the show or recognize it from somewhere

I think the chain is a good idea but I think we should make it a dollar to cut out the hassle of counting coins and to make more money :).  If Broderick's really that opposed to the teacher talent idea then I think we should probably try a different one otherwise we're going to spend all our time fighting him instead of earning money.

Chanson says "we won't get sh*t from doing a grade competition."

So what we thought of instead: Homeroom competition! (OH YEAH SO UNSTEREOTYPICAL RIGHT)

But basically, we count the money once a week and then create the link chain and staple it around the room. Kind of like this:  http://www.cynthiacorsetti.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Fotolia_25323601_S-1.jpg except stapled to the top of the wall. So the incentive for people to donate is that whenever anyone walks into the room, they can tell if that class's homeroom is doing well or not!
