So as it turns out sitting on the floor in a circle does not really work for us...:P
Also, since there are SO MANY PEOPLE now, we probably have to split into subcommittees to plan each event. As Jennifer said, if you aren't 100% interested in doing this, don't come next time. Chatting was completely overpowering this time, and that should not happen again. If you're coming just to socialize, don't. (Or technically you could sit in the great hall and then go home at 3:15...XP)
So, since we have to split up into subcommittees, here are some "jobs" for each event--reply with what you're interested in and make sure you can actually go through with the duties you sign up for.
COIN DRIVE
Jobs:
--Talk to Cassidy/Clapp/Mrs. Poblete to make sure they're all cool with it
--Morning announcement
--Signs/posters (i.e. PROPAGANDA!! You guys could have a work party sometime and make posters together.)
--counting money (probably need several people for this)
Essentially what Christina and I thought the timeline for this would be is:
4/9-4/13: Week after break; do morning announcements, put up posters, hype up the event!
4/16-4/20: The week after that; actually have the coin drive.
**Potentially, if we had good success with one week we could extend it or just have this be a two-week fundraiser. What do you guys think?
CARNIVAL/FIELD DAY
Jobs:
--PR team: Contact organizers, etc. (Also we could contact newspapers like the Redmond Reporter and ask them to do a story on us? To raise awareness?)
--Propaganda team: Make the propaganda to put in places :P so not like actually contacting people, but making posters.
Location: Redmond Elementary/old redmond schoolhouse (possibly)
When: Late June
What:
- Talent show? (Although I don't really understand how this fits into everything else--perhaps have some people just playing with their cases open to collect money?)
- Booths: You could set up your own booth, or find others to set up booths there too. If you have your own booth, you're expected to give 100% of your profits to us; others probably can give 10-25% of their revenue.
- Art show: Have a gallery walk with some foldable walls or something with the pictures hanging up. Since art probably costs more than the crafts in the booths, we could probably take up to maybe 30-40% of what they make?
- Fun events: Just find some things to do that are legitimately fun for kids; offer community service hours for people to run them. (In fact, I think that you could talk about this in the next Honor Society meeting and say it could be a part of your "service plan" or whatnot?) For this, Megan also suggested a dunk tank. :D
OTHER IDEAS I'M TOO LAZY TO TYPE THAT MUCH ABOUT:
--Green fashion show (I'm still kind of confused about how it works--Sydney, could you talk a little bit more about this?)
--Derby Days booth (Lemonade stand hahahaha)
Over spring break, we really NEED to get started on planning. Leave your ideas/comments/questions below~
