As fantastic as Dean's rooms are, when he GM's, the entire experience becomes 100% more terrifying! The set is creepy, the scares come from EVERYWHERE. Definitely some of the scariest escape rooms in the UK
Placement puzzles don't work, had to be told to pick something up, and place it back down again for it to use... also use of Disney songs & Disney imagery within the room, and an image on the clue screen that clearly hadn't been paid for...
In the second room you will have to face a riddle. Firstly go left [LS] (there's an experience chest there). You should notice a lever, which unlock the gate on the upper floor, but only for a couple seconds. In order to be able to use the passage, go right [RS] to the room with rock blocks on a cart.
Push it to the circle (while eliminating the Harpies) and block the mechanism so that it can't return to its default position. Now all that's left is to climb up using the tree, collect experience from the two chests found there and go through the gate there.
Kill them all and continue deeper into the Palace. You will arrive at the main hall, with a big statue of Hades in the middle. Right before it there's a book - read it and by doing so, lower the coffin with Persephone (who Kratos killed in Chains of Olympus).
Before you can get to them, search the area for a couple priceless chests. Firstly head to the room on the left [LS]. There you will find a ladder. Climb it to find two experience chests and one (hidden behind a wall [RS]) containing a Phoenix Feather [!!!].
Now you can solve the puzzle. Firstly head to the ladder on the left side. Climb it to find yourself in the familiar room with lever and lift. Use the moving platform and go down. This way you'll get to the place where you used rocks to block the timed mechanism. Open the gate and take the rocks with you upstairs, using the lift again. Push them near the circle and leave for now.
Now you have to repeat the process with the wheel on the right side, just without the need to block it. This way you will expose the statue's torso, which will allow you to destroy it. Swing the poor deceased and make yourself a path (Kratos will automatically enter).
So I haven't actually played God of War on Vita yet, but I got the collection today after how much I loved the first two games (it goes downhill after 2 for me), but I was wondering if anyone out there has figured out easier ways to do the Spiked Box puzzle and Pillar of Hades, easily the two most frustrating parts of the game...at least for me.
Oddly enough, the trophy for climbing the pillar unlocked for me, even though I clearly got hit. Glitch, I guess...but helpful glitch, since it was another gold trophy, and I was a trophy hunter back then.
I don't really have any advice for you on the pillar of hades, but I experience the exact same glitch you did. I was hit by one of the spikes and still got the trophy. It is possible that glitch may not be in the PS Vita version however...
They both took several tries for me. For the spiked box puzzle I wound up giving it fully charged kicks until I got inside the area with the ledge, then pulled it over as close to the edge as I could. I believe I wound up managing it by barely grabbing on to the end of the ledge when I jumped.
I never did try to see if the Pillar of Hades glitch could happen. I remember having to jump at the first opportunity for a wide gap. The hit detection for the spikes was frustrating though, as most of the time Kratos' hand was only near it but it would still hit me and knock me all the way down.
Fully charged kicks are the way to go with the spiked box. Pull it out just enough from the wall so that you can get around it, and do the first kick. Run towards it and line it up to the hallway, and give it your second kick. Line it up again at the last corner and give it your third kick. From here you can either push it manually the rest of the way or do another shorter charged kick.
For the spiked room puzzle, you don't need to place the "box" close to where you need to jump to. As soon as the camera angle changes, you don't need to put the box on the left, just keep going down until you're able to push it to the left then stop. After that, just make a perfect double jump and you got yourself a nice checkpoint. Oh and if it isn't obvious enough, always kick the box, only move it around when you're close to something that's blocking its way.
As for the Spiked Column in hell, it's all practice and knowing the pattern of the spikes. On PS3 i fell infinte times until i got the pattern down, you can always restart the checkpoint if you fall down, it'll still count.
I think these two are a piece of cake compared to the Challenges of the Gods, specially since on PS3 you have to do everything in a row, at least on the Vita you can press the PS button to do whatever else you want to do.
I did the spiked room puzzle on my second try by following someone's advice and NOT KICKING the box whatsoever! I just pulled the box and dragged it to where it was somewhat close to the ledge and did my double jump. I even had a couple of seconds to spare. I got it on my second try!
Many of the clues didn't sit right with me. Instead of thinking "cute", I kept thinking "that's not really correct". A Pat isn't a stroke (got it right away and didn't write it in because it was clearly wrong). Oil protects gears not a gear (with only one you don't need oil). Why would a cannery have a row of jars any more than anywhere else? Also, pretty sure Diet as used has to be capitalized. I refused to write it in for a while. That's a major error to me because it makes the misdirection just plain wrong. Friday is usually my favorite day so disappointed today :-(
Mostly easy for me. The quad stack went pretty quickly as did the down 16s with the exception of the YEARS part of 11d. The SE corner was a tad tough. Me too for cOE but cARS made no sense and an alphabet run got me to JARS which made slightly more sense.
@Rex DANAIDES was a WOE.
I remembered LEE KRASNER from the movie. She was played by one of my favorite actresses Marcia Gay Harden. I'm hoping Code Black gets a second season.
Liked it, but agree with Rex on the fill.
One more thing. I know that my opinion isn't worth much, but for what it's worth ... I did not like, Rex, how you threw shade at the co-constructor, a person who you know to be a frequent (and invariably polite) commenter on this blog.
Even though JOE got me, I loved the puns in the SE corner (Cannery row and Western Union). I was very doubtful of CARS but COE had to be right even though I was vaguely concerned about the omission of its location in the clue.(xwordinfo confirms that COE the college has always been clued with its location). After failing the check I verified that the C was wrong and a careful alphabet run produced JARS and then I made sense of JOE.
My solution
I thought I might be setting a record-breaking time when I started this. I ripped down the GREAT BARRIER REEF and then rode the ELEPHANT in a HURRICANE and AMASSED the STICKS AND STONES and then . . . dead stop.
I was stuck in the NE corner because I put in ADAMs instead of ADAMA. It took me some time to figure out ASH.
Most of the rest went quickly via the crosses until I, too, foundered in the SE with cOE College. JOE College was the last to drop.
Very impressive stacks in the middle. Some of the fill around the edges not so much. I think of a CAD as someone less than unrefined.
Never heard of DANAIDES but the crosses revealed it. I did try "Three Pieces in the Shape of an eAR" but that obviously wan't going to let me have EAPOE!
A good workout from Messrs. Ashwood-Smith and Barany. Thank you, guys!
I got the center stacks, which I thought were brilliant, got the long verticals, and still DNF. Stared at Al ______ for a long time. Arabic? I'm pretty good there, but got nothing. Finally figured it was a sportsperson. Spent some time convincing myself it was Al DaNky, probably won the Indy 500. Oh, DENTE! Duh.
I got LENTS, but no one ever says that, or "Ramadans" either. Did you observe LENT when you were a child? No S.
Ugggh. Unsolvable in the top unless you know 3 obscure names for the crosses - REA, and SATIE, annnnddd ELENI.
To be clear - Geneva is a font developed for the Mac. Aerial was a font made popular for the PC. Until recently, neither was an alternative to the other unless you switched computers. The clue might as hell have read "alternative to cuneiform".
Just really really terrible. Didn't anyone edit this? The quad stacks don't justify the rest.
