Rich,You hit the nail on the head.The psychological effect of a rectal
temp on a mature woman is strong.Woman in the age range you
mention,remember well having their temperatures taken rectally,by
their mothers,a nurse,or a doctor.Back then,it was the only way a
temperature could be taken safely on a child.There were no digital
thermometers or fever strips as there are now.When illness came along-
out came the rectal thermometer and the Vaseline-the patient was
rolled over on her tummy and the panties were lowered to her
knees.Laying on the cool sheets,she waits and watches as the
thermometer is shaken down and lubricated.Then the moment she truly
