About a month ago there was a new Yahoo RT group I think called
"Greatrectaltemperatures". It was very active, seemed to have a fair
number of members, and now it's gone! Anyone familiar with this and
can shed some light?

Yep. Once again a good group gets the axe on Yahoo. In years past,
there were a few groups on this subject. The only one left on Yahoo,
to my knowledge, is Teen Rectal Temps. I guess it's still running due
to the fact that it deals more with non-sex related material. Oh well.
Let's just hope Google leaves us alone.
