Role Description
client is
developing multiple avionics systems that need to be tested using an increasing
level of automation and fidelity as they mature. This includes a variety of
automated tests to ensure sub-system functionality, including testing hardware,
testing the software that runs on the hardware, and testing the combination of
the hardware and software together. There are two stages to this work.
First, we require the sub-systems to be integrated with an existing test
automation framework (internally called SPOCK). This primarily involves writing
of tests for SPOCK that will then be executed on various sub-system HITL
systems to validate the hardware and software. This is accomplished by
following SPOCK docs and be able to write test scripts (python) using libraries
developed by the Client SPOCK teams, or configure SPOCK tests using JSON
(depending on functionality needed).
Second, we expect the SPOCK-enabled subsystem HITL environments to be connected
to a CI/CD environment to enable automated hardware testing of software
changes. This work involves connecting an existing CI/CD pipeline (primarily
implemented using standard AWS CodeSuite tools) to the HITL environments.
Ideally this work is performed in close concert with the SPOCK integration so
as to more easily enable the CI/CD integration.
Expected Tasks
To support integration of avionics systems with SPOCK/HITL, candidates would be expected to:
- Assist the Client team in the design, setup and configuration of Avionics HITL test benches to run SPOCK tests
- Create SPOCK tests in JSON, following the SPOCK documentation, to validate Avionics HW and FW changes
- Create test scripts (preferably Python, packaged with Docker) to be run by SPOCK, to validate Avionics HW and FW changes
- Track test coverage and progress as implemented in SPOCK against Avionics requirements
To support integration of that work with CI/CD, candidates would be expected
to:
- Setup and integrate Avionics CI/CD with the Client Build System (AWS) and SPOCK
- Adapt the Avionics FW builds to run in AWS CodeBuild (or similar)
Qualifications and Skills
- Languages:
- Basic: Python
- Preferred: Rust
- Tools:
- Basic: Docker, Basic AWS, CI/CD concepts and paradigms
- Preferred: Spack, Cargo, AWS CodeSuit (CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, etc.), AWS CDK
- Experience working with Linux embedded systems
- Embedded Hardware/devices familiarity
