Role: Tooling Engineer – Harness / Software Delivery Platform Ownership – Harness

Location: Atlanta, GA
Duration: 6 Months

Role Description

Software Delivery Platform Ownership – Harness

Own the Harness platform as Deluxe's enterprise delivery platform, including architecture, configuration standards, RBAC and governance model, module adoption roadmap, and vendor relationship.
Establish policy-as-code standards so pipeline governance is versioned, reviewable, and auditable rather than configured manually in the UI.

CI/CD

CI: Establish reusable pipeline templates and shared libraries, build caching and parallelization standards, and CI patterns that keep build times within target as the organization scales.
CD: Define deployment strategies (progressive, canary, blue green), GitOps workflows, environment and artifact promotion paths, approval gates, and change-control evidence for regulated payment workloads.

Security (STO)

Orchestrate SAST, DAST, SCA, container, and secrets scanning across pipelines.
Work with AppSec to define severity thresholds, blocking policies, exemption workflows, and remediation SLAs.

Engineering Insights (SEI)

Define engineering metrics including DORA, flow, lead time, and review latency.
Establish governance to ensure metrics are used for system-level improvements rather than individual performance evaluation.

Cloud Cost Management (CCM)

Deliver cloud cost visibility, budgets, anomaly detection, non-production auto-stopping, and showback/chargeback.
Connect architecture decisions to unit economics.

SDLC Toolchain

Own the delivery toolchain, including source control, issue tracking, artifact management, static analysis, and test infrastructure.
Manage integration architecture, entitlement and license management, upgrade and migration planning, and tool consolidation.
Define documented "golden paths" from code commit to production deployment.

AI in Engineering Workflow

Establish AI usage standards for design, code generation, testing, and documentation.
Define evaluation criteria, human review requirements, data-handling standards, and governance for AI-generated code.

Required Qualifications

10+ years in software engineering, solution architecture, or platform engineering, including senior architecture leadership on distributed, high-availability systems.
Experience in payments, fintech, merchant services, or other regulated transaction-processing environments.
Ownership of an enterprise CI/CD platform, including pipeline-as-code, templating, RBAC, secrets management, and multi-team governance.
Experience with Harness, GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions with Argo/Spinnaker, or Jenkins at enterprise scale.
Experience integrating security scanning into CI/CD pipelines and implementing policy gates.
Strong understanding of engineering delivery metrics (DORA or equivalent).
Expertise in API and integration architecture, including REST, asynchronous messaging, event-driven patterns, and API lifecycle governance.
Cloud-native architecture and Kubernetes production experience.
Ability to influence technical direction across teams and communicate architectural trade-offs to executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Harness modules, especially STO, SEI, or CCM.
Policy-as-code experience (OPA/Rego or similar).
Cloud cost management or FinOps ownership, including showback/chargeback implementation.
Applied Generative AI or Agentic AI in engineering workflows with governance.
Architecture leadership for large-scale API ecosystems, partner platforms, or merchant-facing onboarding.
PCI DSS-aligned controls, IAM, or fraud/risk integration experience.
Hands-on development experience with .NET, Java, Go, or Node.js.
Experience with GitHub and Atlassian toolchain.
