This role will lead the expansion of the existing experimentation framework to support an increasing number and diversity of automated security experiments while enabling engineers to rapidly compare the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of multiple hybrid SAST implementations.
The Lead Cloud Platform Engineer will architect, develop, and optimize cloud-native services on the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform using C#, TypeScript, PowerShell, and Python, leveraging Azure Batch, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), containerized workloads, modern web technologies, and AI-assisted software development practices. The role will provide technical leadership, establish engineering standards, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate closely with Microsoft's Security Engineering, Data Analytics, and Research organizations to continuously improve the experimentation platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, enhancement, and operational support of Microsoft's cloud-based experiment execution platform supporting hybrid Static Application Security Testing (SAST).
- Expand and modernize the existing experimentation platform to support an increasing number and diversity of repeatable, automated security experiments.
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud-native services on the Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform.
- Architect, develop, deploy, and support distributed containerized workloads running on Azure Batch to enable scalable experiment execution.
- Design, develop, and optimize integrations with Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) for experiment orchestration, telemetry collection, analytics, and reporting.
- Develop backend services, RESTful APIs, orchestration components, automation frameworks, and cloud-native applications supporting experiment scheduling, execution, monitoring, and result collection.
- Design, develop, and enhance modern web-based user interfaces that enable engineers to analyze, compare, and interpret experiment results across multiple hybrid SAST implementations.
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and Python for deployment, infrastructure management, platform operations, scripting, and engineering productivity.
- Leverage modern Large Language Model (LLM)-assisted development practices to accelerate software development, code generation, debugging, testing, refactoring, and engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with Security Engineering, Application Security, Data Analytics, and Research teams to integrate experimentation, analytics, reporting, and platform capabilities.
- Lead technical architecture reviews, code reviews, design discussions, and engineering governance to ensure scalability, reliability, maintainability, security, and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineering team members, establish engineering standards, promote best practices, and drive continuous technical improvement.
- Partner with Microsoft engineering stakeholders to prioritize platform enhancements, resolve technical challenges, manage engineering risks, and continuously evolve the experimentation platform.
