Location: Las Vegas, NV(Onsite)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and support our PostgreSQL database environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database installation, configuration, performance tuning, high availability, backup/recovery, and security management. This role involves close collaboration with developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders to ensure database reliability, scalability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

* Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL databases across development, testing, and production environments.

* Monitor database performance and proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.

* Implement database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

* Design and manage high availability (HA) and replication solutions (e.g., streaming replication, Patroni, pgPool, etc.).

* Optimize queries, indexes, and database schema for performance improvements.

* Ensure database security, compliance, and access control policies are enforced.

* Automate routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible, etc.).

* Support development teams with SQL query tuning, schema design, and migration activities.

* Perform capacity planning and database growth forecasting.

* Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.

* Participate in on-call rotation for production support.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

* 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA, with at least 3 years in PostgreSQL.

* Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, configuration, and performance tuning.

* Expertise in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and query optimization.

* Experience with high availability setups (streaming replication, logical replication, clustering).

* Familiarity with backup/recovery tools (pgBackRest, Barman, WAL archiving).

* Knowledge of Linux system administration (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).

* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

* Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):

* Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL).

* Exposure to other databases (MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB).

* Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and automation (Terraform, Ansible).

* Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, pgBadger).

* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
