I'm forwarding this in case it's of interest to some of you, and apologies if you've already received this notice via another route.

As you may know there is one Open Dialogue team within Devon Partnership Trust, but the interest and eagerness for this approach is much more widespread in the South-West! There's a link below which offers substantial information on it.

I heard a very compelling talk by Jaakko Sekkula, founder of Open Dialogue, way back in 2002, and to me as a social worker it just made so much sense! At the time I was a mental health social worker in the midlands where it broke my heart to see young people's lives horribly damaged by over-prescription and enforcement of psychotropic drugs, even when it seemed to me understandable that the person had extreme experiences as a consequence of life's distressing events and pressures. Open Dialogue offers a real opportunity to help reach an understanding of problems, a way through them with good support, and the opportunity to find a route through to a fulfilling future.

This has come too late for my own practice, but I should be glad to support the wider development of Open Dialogue in any way I could!

Margaret Turner.

A free, two-day, online introduction to Open Dialogue

15th & 16th of March 2023

9.00 – 15.00 GMT (UK time)

International interest in Open Dialogue is growing rapidly, yet it is difficult for many to access opportunities to learn more about the approach.

To create a space for as many as possible to better understand the theory and practice of Peer-supported Open Dialogue (POD), the Academy of Peer-supported Open Dialogue will be offering a free, two-day, online introduction open to everyone.

It will be hosted by the trainers who have developed POD over the past eight years within the context of the NHS and delivered the PGCert in collaboration with Russell RazzaqueNorth East London NHS Foundation Trust, the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT) and London South Bank University.
