The Peer Leadership Development Programme is designed by people with lived experience (living with a long term condition and/or carers), for people with lived experience- therefore the content is relevant, current and broken down.

It provides people with lived experience with the best possible opportunity to engage and influence health and care services, providing the knowledge, skills and confidence to ignite this. By bringing people together in Step 3 truly connects people, which we know is invaluable for not only networking and shared learning, but supporting wellbeing too.

It’s delivered via ‘Steps’ on a platform called Future Learn. The programme is completely free to access.

Steps 1 and 2 are entirely on Future Learn platform, and both will provide 4 weeks access to each step. Once registered the 4 weeks will start for Step 1, and renew once people get to the end of Step 1 to move on to Step 2.

Step 3 is a combination of self directed learning via Future Learn (as per the same format at Steps 1 and 2) and facilitated group sessions (supported by our team, held 1 per week for 4 consecutive weeks usually 9.30am-3pm, dates run recurrently throughout the year and we would work with individuals to plan and coordinate the dates suitable for them together).

  • Link to video highlighting the impact and what the programme has given to people and sharing their ‘why’ for joining-

What the Peer Leadership Development Programme has meant to Peer Leaders

Link to joining the programme -

Understand Personalised Care Part 1 - Online Course - FutureLearn- People can join this at any time, and as Steps 1 and 2 are entirely all on Future Learn and self-directed learning, people are welcome to enrol anytime.

Step 3 would be where the coordination and dates come in, and those can be as agreed with individuals/groups- for example if it were to be within a specific month. And we would work with individuals to understand what works for them and try and accommodate (as able with the small team we sit in).

Kind Regards,
