Dear RiC users,

The EGAD group is pleased to announce the release of version 1.0 of the RiC card game, a game which we already have used several times in different contexts (including during two workshops at the ICA Barcelona 2025 congress).
The game, with accompanying documents (slides on objectives and rules, and guidelines for preparing the game and for facilitating it), is available here, under CC BY-SA 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) license, in English and in French: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1QK8URh8VDhldGSYM4NlFDYPvKjlk9OCC?usp=sharing.
The card game itself can be printed from the PDF files we provide there (files named 'RiC_Card_Game_ICA_Barcelona_2025_en.pdf' or 'RiC_Card_Game_ICA_Barcelona_2025_fr.pdf').
Once printed, the game can be used during in person worskhops, as a good discovery tool for beginners. It focuses on RiC-CM; through a real use case, it helps to understand what the conceptual model is. It can be played by teams of 4 to 8 people; each team must have a printed card game and be accompanied by a facilitator who knows RiC-CM and the use case very well.
We will try to produce a Spanish version of the game in the coming months.
I wish you all a very happy new year 2026.

Best regards,

Florence Clavaud,
Head of the Lab, Archives nationales de France
Chair of EGAD

Dear EGAD Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to express my strong interest in supporting the translation of the RiC Card Game into Spanish. As an archivist deeply committed to advancing archival science in Latin America, I believe this educational tool represents a significant opportunity to introduce Records in Contexts to the Spanish-speaking archival community.

The RiC Conceptual Model addresses critical needs in our region, where archival description practices are evolving rapidly. A Spanish version of the card game would provide an accessible, engaging way for archivists, students, and educators across Latin America and Spain to understand and adopt this important standard.

As a demonstration of my commitment to this project, I am pleased to share a preliminary translation that I have prepared. Please find attached the following materials:

  1. Como_facilitar_juego_cartas_RiC_es.docx - Facilitator's guide for conducting the workshop
  2. Como_preparar_juego_cartas_RiC_facilitador_es.docx - Instructions for preparing the card game
  3. RiC_Juego_Cartas_Objetivos_Reglas_ES.pptx - Objectives and rules presentation (9 slides)
  4. 03_GLOSARIO_TERMINOLOGICO_RiC_EN_ES.docx - Terminological glossary EN-ES

Please let me know if you would like to discuss this initiative further. I am available to participate in any collaborative translation efforts and would welcome the opportunity to contribute to making RiC more accessible to Spanish-speaking archivists worldwide.

Thank you for your consideration and for the excellent work you have done in developing this innovative educational tool.

Best regards,

Jhon González

Estimado Jhon,
