I'm experiencing the same problem:
Linux MG900 2.6.24-21-eeepc #1 SMP Thu Aug 7 22:18:05 MDT 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
Reconstructor 2.8
This takes place with two ISO: Ubuntu Mini Remix 8.10 and Xubuntu 8.10.

I forgot the log:
"Unable to detect codename for Ubuntu CD Version - APT Repositories will
NOT be modified..."
