Every time I try and load ReconstructMe it says "Failed to load
Microsoft Kinect driver " does anyone know how to fix this? the Kinect
works as I have tried other programs but ReconstructMe does not detect
the drivers.

Any help would be great thanks

What sensor do you own? Did you go the OpenNI or the Windows Kinect route? How do you start ReconstructMe?

Am using the Kinect for my Xbox, I was trying the Windows Kinect route, I tried clicking the ReconstructMe application icon but that closed after I agreed to the licence terms, so I tried clicking the Start ReconstructMe Scan MSKinect icon

Note, when using the OpenNI backend (which is what you want todo when installing SensorKinect-Bin-Win32-v5.1.0.25.msi) you must uninstall Microsoft Kinect SDK from your computer. Otherwise OpenNI will never find your device. Then start ReconstructMe using the OpenNI batch starters.

Hi Christoph,

How do I uninstall the Microsoft Kinect SDK completely? I have tried many ways...from the device manager and the windows uninstaller..

but always when i connect the kinect to my laptop, it installs the Microsoft Kinect Camera Driver from microsoft....even if the audio and motor seem to be installing correctly wirh PrimseSense drivers.

I am stuck.

Hey Peter.
I found a solution.
Uninstall the microsoft driver, then reboot your computer. When you plug in the Kinect, it will start installing the microsoft driver again. Then quickly click on the little icon on the bottom right of the screen, and cancel the installation. Then install the Primesense driver. It worked for me this way.
The thing is that even when you uninstall and remove the microsoft installer, windows somehow keeps the installer and automatically re-installs it when you plug the Kinect.

Hope it works for you. It is great fun to scan stuff!
Cheers

Another way to unistall MS Kinect drivers (WIN7):

>> DeviceManager
>> double click the device : Properties dialog pops up
>> go to the Driver tab
>> hit the uninstall button : Confirm dialog pops up
>> enable the checkbox to delete the driversoftware

Repeat this for each of the Kinect devices

I tried that....but windows somehow keeps the driversoftware hidden somewhere in the system, and re-installs it as soon as you plug the Kinect. That is why you have to intercept the installation as soon as you plug the Kinect after doing what you just described, and rebooting the PC.

No need to reboot. Go offline, then uninstall the driver as suggested above. Plugin in the sensor, lack of network will let it pick up the correct driver.
