Subject: The Chennai Oil Spill - Leaked (190 half-bookmarked, anonymised pages on the 2017 Ennore oil spill. Homework before the next NGT hearing on 26 April 2017)

When will the authorities come clean on the 2017 Ennore oil spill ? 3 months and counting...
Questions STILL not answered (some not raised!) ahead of the 3rd National Green Tribunal, Southern Zone hearing coming up on 26th April 2017.- Why were both ships using the same channel when best practices warn against this, especially in Kamarajar Port Limited.
- What were steps taken under Dawn Kanchipuram's SOPEP? (In the event of a spill by a ship the Ship's Oil Pollution Emergency Plan (SOPEP) must be activated, as per MARPOL 73/78 requirements.)
- Why did the Indian Coast Guard spray oil spill dispersant, thereby causing more damage, when OSDs are not particularly effective against heavy fuel oils, ESPECIALLY after the initial 3 hours before the oil weathers?
- Why does the NOSDCP (National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan) not outline protocols for tackling varied oil spills when the protocols are so disparate?
- Why the the Tamil Nadu government give an all clear for seafood consumption, despite IIT's report specifically cautioning on the monitoring of the same?
- Is the bioremediation pit large enough for the quantity of sludge retrieved? Do the math!
...there are so many more!
