Todaywas a legitimately nice day in the Northland. Temperatures hit the 70s and it felt just nice. The sun was out, I was driving back from an appointment in Carlton, when I nearly was taken off the road by a car that cut into my lane on I 35. I shrugged it off, kept my cool and kept going. Just minutes later another car passed me going close to 90 and "shot the gap" in between me and a semi. What the heck was going on?! It happens every year at this time. Nicer weather and people drive like idiots.

Psychologically something about nice summer weather makes people drive riskier. I know I even sped a bit more than I usually do. Is it the good mood we get? Are we even more distracted? I'm not sure but I can tell you that there has to be a correlation.

My step dad was a cop for his entire career and he was the first one to point this out to me. Crashes, DUI's, speeding violations, and seat belt tickets always go up in the summer. So be on the lookout for crazy drivers.

Specifically adding in more bass at times helps really thicken up the distortion and higher gain sounds. But you can also roll it off to control the mid and bass punch that can sometimes muddy up a low gain or boost setting. So really, it can be tailored to a wide variety of settings you might want or need. I think the Lyla Drive sounds best as an always-on low gain overdrive. It is crispy, clear, and nails that edge of breakup amp tone that I really love for my playing. The softer you pick, the cleaner it will be which makes it a breeze for me to go between indie rock swirls of modulation and raw punk tones.

Occasionally, while driving down the highway, along comes a motorcycle weaving in and out and passing us. Sitting in the seat of that motorcycle is some old geezer laughing and giggling. I wonder if he forgot his meds that morning or maybe there was something more than coffee in his coffee that morning?

Recently, The Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage and I spent the day traveling for some errands we had to do, and boy, the idiots were out in full force. Several times, we came close to having an accident. The fact that we got home safe was a real miracle.

Crawling up to Bogus, we were slowed because of a flailing silver coupe that had slid into oncoming traffic. Zero traction. Cops in SUVs stopped cars trying to descend while helping the driver out of his predicament.

First big snowstorm of the year? Powder day? Unsurprisingly, the Bogus Basin parking lots were full by 11 a.m. Saturday and by 10:45 a.m. Sunday. (The new carpool rule in the lower lot is terrific for families, by the way.)

Bogus updated its website and Facebook page. Signs were posted before and after the stop sign at the intersection of Bogus Basin Road and Curling Drive. A Bogus Basin vehicle even drove on the road with a sign on its front bumper indicating that parking areas were full.

The Line is quite simply where we place the car on the track at what point in the corner. As a high performance driver/racer with lap time improvement in mind, our goal is to get around a twisty piece of asphalt in the quickest possible time. In doing so, we must realize there are only a few variables we have control over.

How much are you turning in the parking garage? How much on the highway? The more you turn that steering wheel the slower you MUST go. It is crucial to understand that your steering wheel position has a direct reflection of your speed potential.

Anything you learn from here on out about performance driving will just be fancy ways of allowing us to keep that wheel straighter overall in the course of a lap. Whether it be car set up or driver improvement.

Our car placement will define our line. However, in the quest of lap time we often tend to sacrifice a little radius in the corner itself to enhance the straightaway speed pre or post corner. This is where line technique gets fun, and what separates the best from the rest.

But remember, the ultimate goal is the least possible overall steering angle per lap, finding the ideal compromise of lines to result in the biggest net gain, and therefore the straightest the race track can be.

After a walk on the beach for an hour, the car had managed to take in just over 12 kW of energy from those beautiful sunbeams. The charge was now sitting above 80%. Plenty of charge for the home trip, and the following day. But just to be sure, on Thursday before my weekend of travel I charged the car up to 100% using a 22 kw street side charger, that is handily located not too far from home.

The Pipowagen does have electricity, but after my hosts told me that plugging in anything more than a kettle would blow the fuses, I decided charging it from the mains was not a good idea. I would have to get creative and charge at every opportunity.

By charging from a blend of standard 22 kw chargers and fast chargers, I was able to keep the car topped up to a comfortable level of juice that let me do all the driving I wanted to do, at all times. Most of the time the battery was above 50% charge.

The benefits of driving an EV: the smoothness, the quietness, the eye-watering acceleration, and the lack of emissions far outweigh any required habitual changes. Anyone that resists the change is a Luddite and a philistine.

It still feels like a car. Controls are where they should be, there are enough physical buttons, there are no unexpected or confusing surprises, there are no gimmicks, and compared to the closest competition it feels more mature.

The P2 gets me excited in the same way the BMW i8 did when that first came out. Despite being quite different, the Polestar feels like the distilled essence of the future of motoring that BMW was going for, but then formed into a package friendly for the whole family.

The build quality is exceptional, and the acceleration is intoxicating. It also has the perfect balance of touchscreen and physical buttons, something that car makers are going to have to learn to get right.

Ergonomically speaking, the Polestar worked great for me. Its door sills come up high, and the central console is positioned tight and close to the driver, putting everything at your fingertips. It cocoons the driver such that you feel more like a pilot than a motorist.

Another problem was that if I selected a different route, one that I knew would take me past fast chargers, it would just select that route and start navigation. I would then lose the opportunity to add a charging stop.

The campaign will be advertised in pubs and drive-through bottle shops, as well as hotel bathrooms and on posters in bars around Melbourne and in regional Victoria - you can view Booze Busted online at www.boozebusted.com.

You will need to remove this (if it's in the car good luck), then push out the speedo drive gear, replace the plug, again good luck, probably need to remove the speedo gear seal, then install what ever it is you have to seal the hole.

I've read that a firm well aimed hammer blow or two to the end of the speedo spindle will push the metal cap out of the other side. Obviously get a replacement cap back in is more of a problem. Might take the easy route and just replace the seal for now.

Actually having just looked it maybe isn't new but certainly looks usable. Some surface rust on the concave side of the cup and nicks around the edge. Nothing that shouldn't prevent it doing its job ok.

Important notes: You will need a credit card to not only book, but to pay when you arrive to collect your car. Visa and Mastercard are your safest bets.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pay the extra for insurance. Common sense really. Its not a lot either.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pay the extra to hire a GPS. (more on this later.)

CAR LEVEL UP OK!

At night expect to use only vending machines at a lot of service stations. Ahhhh how the Japanese love a good vending machine! Drive in, and put some cash into the machine next to the pump. Then fill your car. The machine will then print you a receipt. Take that receipt to another machine that will be near the office, insert it, and then it will hand you your change (if any) and a receipt. Off you go!

SERVICE STATION RP UP!

As I said this is just a very basic idiots guide for people who are going in completely green. Hopefully this helps a few people out! If you have any questions myself or others will try our best to help you out!
