Hi - I have an FG-140 bought new by me in 1971. It is pretty much as new and hasn't been touched for 50 years. I am looking to sell it along with a NO. G-160 classical style guitar in similar condition.
I looked up the serial number of the FG-140 on here
www.guitarinsite.nl/serienummers-yamaha_eng.php and it told me it dates from April 1970 which would seem correct as I bought it around April 71. The G-160 was dated as November 69 and again was bought by me new in 1971. I think that these guitars must be among the best examples of their type left so an opportunity for someone here. I'd really like them to go to a good home. I'm not sure what sort of premium they carry over a run of the mill example so I am looking for offers. I am in Sussex BN8 4HJ.
does anyone know the value of a Yamaha FG300 acoustic guitar in great condition no previous repairs all original even the case and real leather shoulder strap, also still has the original red made in Japan label inside and real ivory string pins. Also a 1 owner.
I have a beautiful original Yamaha FG2000 for sale, no cracks, original hard case Brazilian Rosewood, leather label signed by the luthiers. Anyone interested? Have too many and usually play my Martin or Collings.
I would be interested in purchasing your fg 2000 if you still have it. Have an old FG360 myself. Great guitar.
Would love to know more about it and any photos you may have.
How much are you looking to sell it for.
I recently purchased a Yamah G230A classical guitar on eBay for $89 plus $20 shipping as it had to come from Queensland (about 2,000km from me), so if that give you an idea? I have seen them on the net for as much as $399 but then again that is just an inflated price I think. It also depends on what condition it is in and how it plays and sounds.
I have an original LL-15 that I purchased new in 1987. I love it, and it was one of the few things I brought with me when I moved from the US to Australia. I had to order it (unseen except for in the brochure) from Keller Music in Cincinnati. The guitar has a sound that is deep and beautiful, and it has the Indian Rosewood back and sides. A lovely instrument.

Old FG 450 SE for sale, beautiful if slightly beaten spruce top, small crack near the edge, missing pickup hence 300 euros. The controls are all present. The label is that dirty green color if that tells you anything, and says made in Taiwan republic of China. This instrument is in France, so shipping Stateside might prove prohibitive.

Hi,
I have 5 of these. They were made 1972-1973 and were the highest end acoustic Yamaha made. The quality is up there with Gibson and Martin models. Sold in the USA for 379.00 in 1972 and mine are insured with a replacement value of $3000.00 each , as I feel thats what I would have to spend in order to replace them with a like Guitar.
It is a Yamaha FG-160, near perfect condition and great sound, serial 20731422 (not on the label but on the wooden bar under the fret board) and has what i would say is a Green Nippon Gakki label in it.
Barbara, I found your post looking for info on my brothers FG 160. I know "Today" there is one on ebay with 1 bid for $199. So I suppose if its under that price your getting a deal.
This guitar is Wholesome and unmatchable in sound quality unless you pay big $$$ for a martin or Taylor.
I sort of have the same problem as Alex and I wonder if someone could help identify the year and probable value of a Yamaha FG-150 in mint conditon. I bought it in 1971 and has a Red Nippon Ghaki Label. It came with an extra set of strings. It has been in storage in its own case all these years. Thanks, Clem

I need to know the date of my vintage Yamaha FG-180 Red Label Nippon Gakki Acoustic Guitar. Here is the serial # and it is in great condition, and still plays very well after being stored in the closet for years!
I also have a Yamaha FG420 6 string made in Taiwan. Purchased approx 1986. Value at that time was about $275.00 Canadian dollars.Mine is still in excellent shape. It has a lined hard case as well. I would be willing to sell it.
The case was bought separately.
Hope someone can help. I recently bought an old yamaha acoustic guitar but unfortunately the label has been torn in half and so I can not identify the model.
The model finshes in 50. From the ID number I know it was made in 65, 75, 85, 95 or 2005. It is definitely not 2005. From the wear on the neck I do not think it is 95. The stockhead is the v cut and has an eagle logo (looking like a Y) on it below the yamaha name. I can provide photos if that would help, but can anybody tell what model this guitar is?
