I recently came across this interesting device from Maxim:
Maxim calls in an "ideal diode" with forward voltage drop and leakage current numbers much better than Schottky diodes. It isn't cheap, but it is less expensive than I expected.
We might want to look at it for improving the Receiver and Transmitter project designs.

Very interesting part.
Can see some possibilities like turning off parts of a transmitter when off cycle to reduce the load on the battery.
