Basically, no operating system will recognize my S24 Ultra. No issues what so ever with my S23 Ultra, I have not shipped the trade-in. Need the phone for personal use and development at work. I'm developing and testing mobile app for both Android and IOS. The Windows 10, 11 and Linux systems that I use at home also have this issue with the S24 Ultra.

1. navigate to windows control panel and launch device manager.
2. locate the Samsung Android Device in error.
3. right click on the android device and select update driver.
4. select the option browse for drivers on your computer.
5. select the option "let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"
6. scroll down the list until you find the Samsung android device.
7. select the Samsung android device.

And it just stopped working again. Supported OS's won't recognize the device. Ah well, its an awesome phone love everything about it except this problem. Going back to my S23 Ultra for a while. thanks for the support though, it is appreciated.

Do you have a USB drive on your phone? I could never get my phone to mount on my laptop, until i figured out I needed a USB driver on my android phone. I use USB driver for Android, by Mobile Manager. When I plug my phone in I pull down from the top of the screen and it says "USB for charging" and "Touch for more options" if i touch I get
Charging only (default)
Transfer files (MTP)
Transfer Photos ( (PTP)
MIDI
When I chose any one of those except charging only, my phone mounts using the MTP program on my computer and my MOTO 3 DCIM file mounts. From there I can drag and drop files from or to the phone and delete files, and access the micro USB drive.
I feel your pain. I tried numerous tutorials and NOT ONE mentioned your phone needs a USB driver. Hope this helps you. Here is the driver I am using ON MY PHONE.

If you go the Play Store on you mobile phone and type in USB driver for Android by mobile manager about 5 or 6 different drivers will come up. Install one and then try to mount your phone. If it doesn't work you can uninstall it and try a different one. I am not sure they all work the same, so you may have to play with them. The one I use I originally thought you had to use the icon cube, but that only sets the defaults, you use the pull down list to use it to transfer files (MTP)

Those who Google Samsung android MTP support for Win 7 will discover that this is a very long standing and unsolved issue. I have tried many solutions found through Google in the past few years without success. I think (but can not confirm this) that using custom ROM just make it worse.

However, I am also testing Win 10 Insider copy. And to my surprise, MTP (and PTP) works there without fuss. Troubleshooting and tracing the driver used in Win 10 result to inf files which can be found at the end of this post.

Method of installation. In Device Manager, right click the MTP device with exclamation mark icon. Select "Update Driver Software" then click "Browse my computer for driver software". Then click "Let me pick from list of device drivers on my computer" and browse for downloaded driver for file ssudmtp.inf.

QUESTION: If MS can make it work for Win 10 64-bit, surely it works for Win 7 64-bit. (Bitness is not an issue here since the inf did has support for AMD64). Anyone with knowledge and experience of hacking inf to work with Win 7? Appreciate tips on how to make this inf and driver install in Win 7.

The best way to transfer files from a Samsung device to your computer when it is not being recognized as an MTP is to use Samsung SideSync. Samsung SideSync has the MTP driver built into the program so it will recognize your device as a MTP. I made a video on how to transfer media files with Samsung SideSync:

I have a board design based on stm32L452 , USB gets recognized on a windows PC and I can talk to the device over any software like putty and a Test software sees the com port and can to the device. However in Android (Iam using samsung GalaxyTab A8), usb is not even recognized. The Tab support OTG mode and I did change default USB mode in the tab (Tried all the combo, file transfer, teethering, media etc). Nothing helps. Any advice is greatly appreciated

3. When you bring up android settings, and developer options enable and usb in setting, in transferring file mode...other modes are disabled or greyed out. So not ensure what enumeration stage it is...

typeA to MicroB connected, galaxy Tablet said "media device detected". But no communication or serial comm and no enumeration, same result in galaxy s2. Then test on ipadPro .. usbA to usbC dongle, its said usb accessory.. still have to check if comm port can communicate with ipad.
