Weare going to start a D&D 3.5 campaign. One of the players said that he wants to play a character something like "kissed by angels" or "a character who encountered something divine before and got grey eyes". He said that it is a D&D feature, but he couldn't recall which edition it is in.

An acceptable answer can cite any edition of D&D, or AD&D. Officially published modules, Dragon Magazine articles or other published lore are all fair game. Although we are going to play D&D 3.5, if this feature is from another edition I will be able to adapt it.

As mxyzplk pointed out in a comment on the question (five years and change ago), the player was probably talking about the playable race Aasimar, or the Player's Guide Lesser version thereof, from the Forgotten Realms setting.

Aasimar were human-based planetouched, native outsiders that had in their blood some good, otherworldly characteristics. They were often, but not always, descended from celestials and other creatures of pure good alignment[.]

While several aasimar were immediately identifiable as such, [...] commonly standing out with only one unusual feature. Most aasimar had pupil-less pale white [or] gray [...] eyes and silver hair[.]

Regarding the eyes, this is a harmless cosmetic sign of the divine favour that the PC wants for their character, just give it to them. Most of the items I mention below have their own cosmetic signs so either offer them to the player instead or let them have the grey eyes. Grey eyes are quite subtle, so might be considered too easily hidden but if it's in addition to other effects then sure, give them for free.

Omniscient Whispers which requires contact with the Commune or Contact Other Plane spell but allows a 1/week question similar to Commune. Easy to work into an Angelic contact background.

On a separate note, I have a vague recollection of what the player is talking about but I can't find any mention of it anywhere. I was sure there was some sort of Destiny feat which left a mark on the character but I can't find any trace of it.

I am gonna start pouring the Poison Tail and Snootie jigs shortly. I have never poured a jig that had eyes before so I know nothing about the eyes and the best colors to use. I know that with the various colors, sizes & styles the possibilities are endless. I want to keep it simple. What color eyes would you recommend? The basic jig head colors will be Black, Black w/Blue Flake, Watermelon, Green Pumpkin, Brown and occasionally Blue. I would like to limit it 2 or 3 colors in the various sizes.

I only stock three color eyes, red, gold and silver. I think those colors will cover almost anything you want to make. Eye color is personal preferance. I don't or rarely use eyes on the jigs I fish. It's more of a selling point for me. However eyes do make a jig look really good especially if you make a jig with light colors For some reason a white jig doesn't look complete if it has provisions for eyes and you don't put any in. These are the colors combos that I use. Red and silver eyes on blk, black/blue jigs, gold eyes on brown, green pumpkin and watermelon jigs. Now when you get into lighter colors, red looks really good on white, white/yellow chart and yellow chart. jigs. Silver also looks good on a white jig with silver sides and a black dorsal line. So to put it in a nutshell, whatever you think looks good is all that matters.

I do almost the same as Cadman except I have a few odd colors for a line of spinnerbaits and that was 1 purchase, otherwise all my other eyes are red, gold, and silver. If you want just 2 go with gold and silver and the reason is those two colors work with just about any color, red is also a good color but gold and silver are much more versatile.

Just a random suggestion. I mean we have black and white, though white is blind eyes but you get my point. Sooo, why not have grey eyes?

Smexy grey eyes-

And why not orange golden eyes?

Because why not?

Perhaps the orange golden eyes could be called orange, and the current orange eyes could be renamed to gold or something like that. I always thought they looked more of a gold colour than orange, so having some nice proper orange eyes would be pretty cool

Awesome! My eyes are Blue-Green-Gray so of course I went to the mirror to see how gray they are. Nope, just a smidgen of gray. Still called Blue even though I call it Blue-Green-Gray. Imagine it as turquoise but with a pinch of gray. Still need my eye color in this game. Please. Maybe I should take a picture of my eyes and make a suggestion..

There should be a gene that allows nichelings to have color-changing eyes that represent different status effects! And maybe there should be a thing in game where, like fur colors, the eye colors can mix!

Our next destination was Gannet Headland, a nesting ground for the Northern gannets. You cannot see the place before you climb up to the highest point of the island through the high ferns and then walk down to the rugged cliffs. Then you just stop there, speechless.

Gannets hunt fish by plunge-diving from a remarkable height into the sea and then using their wings and feet to swim deeper. After returning from the sea they have this gentle ritual of affection with the other partner, preening and touching the bills.

Gannets have very interesting features. For example, they have no external nostrils: they are located inside the mouth. Their eyes are positioned slightly up to the front which gives them a better view.

What a beautiful post and excellent photography. So inspiring. If I did not have what I do on my plate currently how I would love to just go off into similar ventures and just follow my heart with photography. Lovely work

Thank you for your kind words. That was a one-day trip, and only one hour and half drive for me. I made two posts: this one and the previous one, about the puffins, so you can check it out too. Thank you again!

Grey eyes are a rare and distinctive eye color. This eye color only occurs in only about 3% of the global population. Their unique appearance often sets individuals with grey eyes apart. But what factors contribute to the presence of grey eyes?

People often mix up blue and grey eyes, sometimes making statistics on them unclear. That said, Estonia, a Northern European country, may have the highest percentage of grey-eyed people. Almost 90% of the population has either blue or grey-blue eyes.7

A study compared rates of alcohol dependence between those with light-colored eyes and those with dark eyes. It found a 54% higher rate of alcohol dependence among those with blue, green, light brown, or gray eyes.1

Emerging research suggests that gray-eyed people may have a natural defense against conditions like vitiligo.9 The skin disorder, linked to several serious health issues, including diabetes, arthritis, and lupus, may be less common among those with grey eyes.

This beautiful scapular playfully combines a mosaic pendant with a handcrafted Greek eye bead in a gold-plated frame. It is an amulet that protects against the evil eye and curses.

Earlier today, I wrote about Chanel's runway show (come see the gorgeous collection!). I was so focused on the clothes that I almost missed this slick, glittery eye makeup worn by the models. According to vogue.com, it was achieved by gluing "chunky pieces of gold and silver glitter along each model's upper lash lines using a pro makeup adhesive." Some pieces were also glued to the tips of the lashes.

Supernatural eyes are an aspect of Shapeshifting in which a supernatural creature can change the appearance of their eyes. The main function of this ability is to reveal their supernatural species, but in the case of shapeshifters, it can also allow them to tap into their superhuman powers (particularly their superhuman vision, super strength, and accelerated healing abilities) at a stronger level without fully shapeshifting in times where doing so is impractical or inopportune, though this process is not always necessary.

While the aforementioned powers are usually passive abilities that are nearly always in use, sometimes a supernatural creature may need to actively trigger these powers, which can be initiated through shapeshifting their eyes; this is particularly true for Werewolves who can use their glowing eyes to see a Kitsune's true nature through their aura, can see the Nemeton when it is cloaking itself, and can allow Alphas to see even when blind. Those who use this aspect of shapeshifting typically possess enough control over it that they can selectively choose to only change the appearance of their eyes without fully transforming their bodies along with it.

The extent to which this change in the eye's appearance occurs varies among the different supernatural species: most frequently, the iris or the entire eye changes color and/or glows, but it can also change based on the animal from whom the shapeshifter's powers are derived. Furthermore, this aspect of shapeshifting the eye's appearance can even change due to certain factors, such as ascending or descending in rank or to reflect a transformation into a new species. In addition to these changes, supernatural eyes will glow even brighter (and in some cases will change color) when their owners steal the power of other supernatural creatures, such as when an Alpha kills his own Beta, or when Belasko (or someone else) uses his talons to steal a supernatural creature's powers.
