installing for phpbb2 forum

I installed Cygwin with the default packages. Then I put in the
commands on reCAPTCHA's website for patching the phpbb2 php and tpl
file. Nothing came up on the screen showing that it did anything;is
there supposed to be? I checked the files and they weren't modified.
I'm assuming cygwin has the latest updated patch, according to
Cygwin.com anyway.

Any suggestions, help?

I also used cygwin to apply the patches. I needed to install the Patch
module for cygwin before it worked. Somewhere in the cygwin
documentation it explains that Cygwin does NOT install all modules as
standard.
