When we select a captcha image, it fading away and a fresh new image is getting replaced(attached a screenshot). Same for all images in that captcha. For over a year we had no problem, but only since 2 days we are seeing this(no change is done in the page).

Additionally, this problem occurs intermittently irrespective of browsers, OS, or Browser Incognito mode. We tried changing security level at Google Developer Console to low, medium and full but of no use. If you have any clue or handled this before, please let me know.

Note: I see this problem for my work website, personal website, as well on Quora Signup page also!(may have to keep refreshing for a while to see the problem).

Notice that the instructions are to press verify once there are none left. The images are expected to change and the user is being asked to keep clicking them until none of the images match the condition.

After a few hours the problem was gone. Google has probably solved.

I still have the same problem.
When i try to select image, it disappears and replacing with another image. But not selected.

Is it happens about multiple trying on same ip address?

Thanks for your support

The problem is back!!

I tried many think like different browsers, clean cache, check javascript console and tests with a simplified testpage under our domain. Sometimes it works, often not!

I can even reproduce it on the demo page: https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api2/demo
But most of the time it works there.

If the problem does not disappear, we need to implement another reliable captcha solution! This is bad for business!

What you're describing sounds like it's working as expected though. Check the instructions at the top - they are probably telling you to keep making selections until none remain and then press the Verify button.

In those cases, the user will get new images after making selections. If those new images match what the instructions say to select then select them again, but if they do not then do not select the newly added image again.

Once you've cleared out all the images matching the instructions, then you would press the verify and you will have satisfied the reCAPTCHA.

If you feel that you're being presented with more complicated reCAPTCHA challenges than you should be then you should make sure that you are using the latest version of your browser and that you have scripting enabled. Also make sure you don't have any special settings that you've put in place for the site that you're accessing (IE's compatibility mode is an example of a setting that would cause you to have more difficult reCAPTCHA callenges).
