Please, can Support reply with the official view of websites self
hosting the file:

recaptcha_ajax.js

The self hosted file seems to work fine as a temporary "fix" for the
current unavailability of the file from the servers.

Although this is being asked in the context of a temporary fix some
users of reCaptcha might want to know if they can self host the file
over the long term. (myself not included)

Thanks in advance.

Some sites already self-host the file. That's OK in the short-term,
but in the long term it means that any changes we make to our
JavaScript won't be reflected on your site, and your site may break at
some unspecified point in the future if you're using an old version of
the JavaScript.

So in short: it works, but we don't support it. We'd recommend you
change to http://api.recaptcha.net/js/recaptcha_ajax.js, which does
work and is supported.
