Ok... I know it's "flogged to death" (as one user reported), and posted multiple times, but I thought it worth adding a plea from a user rather than a developer.

The ReCaptcha algorithm to create the hard to read words is just getting too hard.  A quick shout across an office of 15 people (all clever, sane, and fully abled individuals) received an outstanding "Yes" to the question, "Does anyone else find these ReCaptcha tests too hard recently" ... At a guess 90% of us.  This did not used to be the case, and therefore I guess it's due to increasing intelligence in bots,  but hey that's only going to get worse, and it's already becoming unusable.

I appreciate that if I was a developer I could opt for a different system, I imagine many will, but my beef is that so many sites I attempt to sign in with use this system, and many times I end up giving up with frustration.  It might be 20-30 refreshes to get one slightly suitable, and then if that fails its easy to give up.

I appreciate the issues needed to balance bot vs ease, and perhaps that stats show different, but this has got annoying enough to sign up here and make a point (something I don't think I"ve ever done before), so I hope it helps.

Agreed. Recently AOL used reCAPTCHA after spam issues got out of hand. The problem was, as a legitimate user, sending an email was very frustrating needing multiple attempts. A number of times I simply gave up since the audio was not inteligable either. The solution was to get it right once and stay logged on.

I absolutely agree, I actually came here to make sure people were complaining, because it is now taking me at least 10 refreshes before I can find something slightly readable. Why are we being punished because of spammers.  Google, you are suppose to hire geniuses, but this is obviously a practical joke that has gone too far.

Why don't you guys attempt to read what your stupid recaptcha is generating.

It's worse than that.

Recaptchas are too hard for humans to read, audio is completely
impossible, and the thing doesn't even work - I was cleaning 10
spammers a night off our wiki until we ditched recaptcha.

Just kill it. it doesn't work any more.

Daniel, & everyone else who commented, I can't agree more! I'm so SICK & tired of them! There are other good captcha's out there that must do just as good. ReCaptcha is NOT USEABLE! It was hard when they first came out, NOW I agree with you, its impossible!
GET RID OF RECAPTCHA!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
