I am looking to implement v2.0 replacing v1.0.  In displaying the widget, can you specify that only Type the text challenges are display and not display image matching?

To expand on what I’m asking a little further that might foster a response…  It seems with v2.0; reCaptcha will either determine you are not a robot, challenge you with the original text style - type in a number/text or use the picture matching.  As peculiar as it may sound we have some clients that might perceive some of the challenge pictures as not acceptable.  Example the beer/beverage match.  So that’s the basis of my questions.  I don’t see a parameter to exclude picture matching as an options; just wondering if possible?

I'm fine with the image matching, but there is definitely some cultural bias.  For example, I run a website for a company that does business in various African countries, some of which have a sizable Muslim population (no alcohol), so the beer and wine questions aren't great.  In addition I'm not sure that the various things shown are universally recognized.  Things like domesticated animals (cats/dogs, cows/sheep) or maybe vehicles (cars/motorcycles) are a safer bet.  Is there a plan to refine or allow opt-out of certain matching schemes?

Also the beverage ones make me thirsty ....

Thanks,

John

Hi all, I agree with all of you: image select challenge is not the best way to check if the users is human or a bot. Having an option to select with method (captcha or image select) reCaptcha have to use to furtherly check for human user will be the way.

I agree with this. I've had a couple occasions where the captcha said "select all pictures of cats" and one of the pictures was an obviously dead cat complete with gore.  We don't need to see this, Google.

Totally agreed!
I am using rechaptcha in some religious websites. image matching however is not appropriate. an option for whether or not using image matching is really needed.
Thanks,

Agreed! I would urgently need the possibility to show the recaptcha with something different then those weird photos.

I agree !! We are concerned that many of our customers may find some of the images as offensive. Also, the image selection requires some prerequisite knowledge on part of the user, and an innocent user sometimes may have a hard time in passing the recaptcha.

has anybody found a solution? I am stuck at the same thing. I don't want my clients to see image challenge. Apparently middle eastern people can take an offense when asked to identify beer.

I think I found a solution! The official documentation contains information about a fallback mechanism for environments that do not support the reCaptcha checkbox widget. By appending the parameter fallback=true you can explicitly use the fallback.

I haven't had any beer or wine reCaptchas yet since I've been using the fallback.

Try the following:
<script src='https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api.js?fallback=true'></script>
...

I tried that method and the weird 'food matching photos' is still there. I hope there is a solution to this
