Hi,

In one of our site which has implemented reCaptcha a strange image was
found. One reCaptcha included some Japanese (hiragana) characters.
These characters are not at all used in the latin alphabet, so when a
customer has this kind of reCaptcha, it is compulsory for the customer
to refresh the reCaptcha to obtain a new one that can be entered
correctly.
Even though that it is easy to press “refresh” we would like to check
if this can be avoided from configuration perspective or some other
way so that customers always receive valid reCaptchas.

Has anyone encountered the same issue? If yes, what was done to ensure
that this does not happen again?

Thanks and Regards
Vincy

It's not a configuration issue - the 'unknown word' can be almost anything, including noise (i.e. the valid response to it is, actually, nothing.)

If there is one readable word there, simply entering just that one word should be sufficient to pass the test, without having to refresh the image.

Vincy,
I keep getting the same problem too, i even created 2 posts on the
subject, but have had no response so far ...

I would also be very keen on knowing what can be done to stop this as
i couldn't find a way.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi,

I agree that it is easier to, either refresh or enter one of the word
to validate the reCaptcha text, yet it is not acceptable that, while
we are expecting only English text on the image, a different language
is shown in the combination. And what I meant by configuration issue
is, would not, the reCaptcha team have some filter to have only
English text showing up in the image.

I am still waiting for a solution to this problem.

Thanks and Regards
Vincy

Since, I believe, the filter currently used is something along the lines of 'failed OCR from largely English books' I'm at a loss to think of what sort of filter you're imagining that doesn't involve human input prior to entering the system (where people entering reCAPTCHA's become that human filter.)

Thanks and Regards
Vincy
