Is there some troubleshooting reference for the reCaptcha plugin for
WordPress. It doesn't seem to be working on my site.

Thanks

Do you have a URL we can look at? Can you show us a screenshot of your settings?

Hello Jorge,

Thanks for your reply.

The URL is http://monet.unk.edu/artblog/
(You can see that I also have that expanded login screen.)

Which settings do you need to see? I've enclosed a screenshot of the
reCaptcha settings. Since this is email, I've blocked out the keys, I
assume you don't need those, but if I'm wrong, let me know what to
send.

You're right, I don't need the keys. You currently have it so you have to be logged in to comment, but that kind of defeats the purpose because you could be stopping spammers from registering at all. So I would suggest you disable reCAPTCHA for comments and enable it for the registration form. This way, you can keep your desired 'must be logged in to comment' whilst preventing spammers from registering. Once you enable it for the registration form you'll understand why it is wider. Once you do that let me know if you have any problems. Or is this not what you want?

I wouldn't mind comments, but I do not want spammer to register, so
I'm going to head on back to that page to look at

YES

So I would suggest you disable

That sounds like what I want. I'm looking at that screenshot,
wondering where I toggle from comments to registration?

Thanks.

Okay, I looked again and I had checked that box. Can other people see
a captcha, but not me?

Price: I can't see any registration links at all on your log in page,
which makes me think that you have registrations disabled entirely.
You need to have them enabled in SETTINGS > GENERAL, then the captcha
will show on the registration screen.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I don't want to allow registrations, but I've received some recent
email alerts from WP that spammers have registered anyway,so some kind
of robot is getting in there.

My blog was already been booted out of Google results for a month
because hidden drug spam was all the opening posts page. I had the WP
version upgraded and that resulted in some new settings I suppose.

I was told that I needed reCaptcha to keep the blog secure.

Should I be using different settings to allow registrations and then
add reCaptcha?

Thanks again,
L.L. Price

L.L: Just upgrading probably isnt' enough to re-secure your blog. You
need to completely reinstall everything and go through your theme
looking for any hidden code. If you have registrations disabled but
they are still coming through you are probably still hacked. Go to the
wordpress forums and look for advice on what to do when you are
hacked.
