Hey,

I have known this friend for a while. Recently I found out that he
spams sites. So I got interested and ask him what kind of things he
does. He told me he curently spams facebook. I asked him how he is
getting past the facebook captcha (facebook uses reCaptcha). He told
me he wrote a NN based ocr system that decodes the text. At first I
didn't believe him so he ended up sending me a .exe demo that only
works on my computer. After testing it out a bit, I looks like it
solves 50% of the captchas inputed. So it gets 1 out of 2 100%
correct. He said he plans on selling the api and charge people once
recaptcha gets big. Is this the end of recapthca???

Hi,

If this is true, it doesn't mean that it is the end of CAPTCHAs or reCAPTCHA. Part of the security behind reCAPTCHA is that we're monitoring for attacks and should an attacker decide to spam reCAPTCHA users, we can react using a number of different methods.
