Hi,
My father-in-law has a Shopsmith (about 8 yrs. old, not sure of the model)
that lucky for me, he lets me use. The problem that we both have with it
is that his shopsmith table saw blades are dull and we can't find any new
blades to fit. He's had the blades sharpened but they are cheap and dull
quickly. Does anyone know if there exists an adapter that will allow for
5/8" arbor blades to be used?

Thanks
Courtney

Courtney,
Shopsmith makes an adapter for a 5/8" saw blade, cost about $18.00
dollars (U.S.), just contact them they will help you.

Courtney:

You and your father-in-law may both be interested in the SS users' group
website, here's the URL:

http://www.ssug.org/

There's a link to Shopsmith's home page, where you can order parts online,
or print out a form for mail order. There are many other great links,
including Tips & Hints, Plans, Trading Post where you can buy & sell
accessories, etc.

As far as the saw blade arbors, it's a good idea to get a couple so you can
attach one to a ripping blade, one to a crosscut blade, etc., so you don't
have to keep changing arbors as well as blades.

Good luck,

You can buy saw arbors from Shopsmith catalog for $18
plus s&h. I have 4(all 5/8") of them and have a different
blade on each one for quick changes.

Shopsmith sells them and also blades. I don't have their US address handy,
but a call to 1-800-370-3834 should put you through to:

All In One Wood Tool
2500 Milltower Ct.
Missassauga, Onterio
Canada L5N6A3

They also carry the arbor you are seeking, and may be faster for you.

The Shopsmith number in the States is: 1-800-762-755 and they are on the web
at: www.shopsmith.com.

The "standard" Shopsmith blade has a 1 1/4" arbor. Once you buy the 5/8 arbor,
it takes any normal blade.
