I would like to laminate (Wilsonart) a 2 inch counter edge around
radiused corners. How small a radius can I reasonably use?

Thanks,
Phil

Tight radius laminate?
Phil, wilsonart laminate is not the easiest material to bent at any time
unless you have purchased postforming. If you have g.p laminate, there's a
trick I always use.
Dampen the back of the laminate at the area where the bend will occur. Go
sneak your hubby's iron. Turn it to about level 5.Don't glue the pc. yet,1st
get the bend in place. Now the hard part. CAREFULLY, heat the laminate as
you SLOWLY bend it around the corner. Keep a sharp eye out as you do it. It
is very vulnerable at this point and may crack. After you get your curve
set, fit and glue. The smallest radius I've managed to bend is 3/4".
Good luck....m. Hastings...Canada

Hi Phil,
You can create a pretty tight radius with the thin laminate. That's the the
one they use when making post formed counter tops. Use a hair dryer to heat
the laminate as you bend it around the radius and go slow.

when i started out in a cabinet shop we used to take the WD-40 can and use that
for tracing the radius........it also helped to make the laminate thinner by
carefully belt sanding the back side......also applied heat to the face of
laminate with high temp hair dryer type heater when making the bend. if there
was any gaps between counter edge and laminate we filled with putty....if you
dont youll have problem routing the top laminate flush as the edge laminate
will movedue to gap. good luck and take youre time.....also sanding laminate
too thin will make it crack on the bend, beware
