After 20 years of (pretty) good service, my Sprunger Bros. 8 inch table
saw developed bearing noise. After disassembling the saw (and wondering
how, given the way it's built, it worked as well as it has), I found
that the saw arbor is badly worn where one of the bearings rides. Also,
the end of the shaft that holds the pulley is chewed up because the
pulley set screw came loose.

I can buy a new arbor, make a replacement, or....buy a new saw. Before
I present this problem to my wife, I want to make a diligent effort to
find out whether it is possible to get this part.

So here is my question: Is Sprunger Bros. Inc. of Ligonier, Indiana,
still in business, or is there any other source of parts?

Thanks for your help.

John,

Can't find a Sprunger Bros but there is this:

Sprunger Corporation
2300 California Road
Elkhart, IN 46514
(219) 262-2476
fax: (219) 264-0578

and they are listed as power tool manufacturers. The name is unusual enough
that it is likely the companies are one and the same (or at least connected
somehow).

John,

I believe Mr. McGaw has located the company for you. An online search
of Thomas Register turned up the same information which he posted.

Dale Fahlbeck still supplies parts for Sprunger machines. He can be reached at 1-800-582-0319.

Somehow I suspect John Barstow didn't wait 19 years for your answer
about his 20 year-old table saw.

Elijah

but maybe the table saw is still around and now old enough to be president

I had forgotten that I posted this question! I did indeed abandon my little Sprunger, and I bought a Delta Contractors Saw which has served me well since 1998 and is still running fine. I should have bought one in 1978!
